Lunita Rose Slaughter Stevens

Lunita Rose Slaughter Stevens, born January 14, 1953 in Washington, DC, transitioned peacefully, to be with her Lord and Savior, on the morning of August 4, 2022. She leaves behind her husband Kenneth Stevens; daughter Sherri Stevens; brother Kenneth Slaughter and three sisters Janice Slaughter, Wilmatine Slaughter and Ina Slaughter.

She earned a Bachelor of Arts in Early Childhood Education at Howard University; a Master of Arts in Special Education at Trinity College. An educator for 40 years, Lunita worked as a kindergarten teacher in DC and Maryland. She enjoyed the performing arts. Lunita will be missed and cherished by all who knew her. Funeral service will take place on Saturday, August 13, 2022, viewing 10 a.m. and service 11 a.m. at Plymouth Congregational Church. The location is 5301 North Capitol St NE, Washington, DC 20011.

I am saddened to learn of the transition of my high school classmate. We always shared pleasantries and whispered giggles in class. I will remember her fondly. My condolences to the family. Thanks to Kenneth, we were able to reconnect in the past few years.
