Lyman Dunnuck Obituary



DUNNUCK LYMAN F. DUNNUCK "Pop" (Age 88) Of Franconia, VA departed this life Saturday, June 27, 2009 into the waiting arms of his beloved wife, Bernice J. Dunnuck who preceded him in death in August 2007. Born in Peru, IN March 15, 1921 to Omer and Nellie (Moran) Dunnuck, Lyman joined the Navy in 1942 and served 9 1/2 years. He was a part of the Pacific Fleet serving aboard the USS Ramapo. After his discharge he worked for the Navy as a Postal Clerk until opening his own business AAMS from the mid 70''s until it was sold in the mid 80''s in Alexandria, VA. He was a lifelong bowler, avid fisherman and loved gardening. Preceding him in death were his much adored wife, Bernice; son, Eugene and daughter, Carol. Those left behind to mourn include his sister, Helen Perkins of Crescent City, CA; two sons, Frank and his wife, Barbara and Donald and his fiancée Nellie Hopson of Alexandria, VA; his daughter, Bonnie Brown and husband, Francis of North Las Vegas, NV; 13 grandchildren, 23 great-grandchildren and one great-granddaughter. Viewing will be at Jefferson Funeral Chapel, 5755 Castlewellan Drive, Alexandria, VA 22315, Thursday, 2 to 4 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m., where service will be held on Friday, July 3 at 11 a.m. Interment National Memorial Park.
