Marina Bragg Obituary

MARINA LEE BRAGG (Age 65)
Daughter of Drs. Barbara Lee Podoski and Joseph Podoski (both deceased), passed away on March 10, 2012 in her home in Chevy Chase, MD from unknown causes. She was the beloved mother of Joelle Jonnie (deceased) and Molly Bragg of Falls Church, VA. Ms. Bragg was born on June 1, 1946 in New York and moved to DC shortly after. She was proud to be a native Washingtonian, having lived her entire life in the DC area. She attended Woodrow Wilson High School. Ms. Bragg married Richard Bragg on May 2nd, 1979, but they divorced 8 years later. In the late 70's Ms. Bragg performed as a backup singer for the Washington DC based band "Root Boy Slim and the Sex Change Band". She contributed her beautiful voice to the debut album "Root Boy Slim and the Sex Change Band with the Rootettes". She performed as a "Rootette" with her best friend Cherie Grasso of Takoma Park, MD. Ms. Bragg and Ms. Grasso shared a devoted friendship until the day Ms. Bragg passed. Ms. Bragg was an avid reader and quite the wordsmith. She had a passion for music, animals, jewelry, and the Washington Redskins. She was a fantastic dancer, as she studied ballet as a child at the Washington School of Ballet in DC. Ms. Bragg was a caring and compassionate individual. Her wonderful sense of humor and kind nature will be missed by many. A private service will be held.

Dear dear Mikki. I had so hoped to see you and hug you again as so many of us were reconnecting after many years, but alas that was not to be. Thank you for being a part of my life. We are always learning and growing...you helped me so much. I know so many of us old friends and musicians are with you now. Please watch over us until we all meet again. We were all a part of a spectacular, special time in the vibration of the Universe we call earth. You are a standout in all our memories. ~ love All Ways ~ Robin

Marina, I think you know I loved you, though I lacked the courage to tell you, when we worked together at PMA, so very long ago. You gave me great joy, which I can never repay, except in everlasting, perfect love.

April 7, 2014

Mikki I still think of you, as I always did throughout the years. I wish we'd had a chance to reconnect. But someday we will. Your grace and kindness were something one never forgets.

I just miss you. Every day. More lately, like you used to miss Babi on bad days. I hope you watch when I lip sync the Golden Girls theme song. I love you. I can't believe I can never talk to you again. Tutti Frutti.

I didnt know you, but your contribution to music and humanity are so incredible, just reading and see the video. What fun you had. Perhaps we will meet in the great beyond.

A little over a year since your transition. The world is still a bit less colorful since your loss. I will always be saddened. Had hoped to talk to you again .... but that was not to be.

Molly, Did your Mom used to work at PMA (Pharmaceutical Mfrs. Ass'n) in D.C.? If so, I was a coworker with her back in 1964. She was beautiful, poised, and a delight to be with. She used to pick me up in her stick shift convertible sports car. So sorry for your loss.

My hearst elementary school sweetheart who I shared many happy times right through Wilson. You always had SO SO much personality. RIP.

April 28, 2012

Had I not known you I would have never known your mother. Now that you are both gone I feel the loss even more. Your mother's patience, advise and knowledge of the craft do so much to further my career. Things I could never tell you. Perhaps one day I'll catch up with you and we can finish that ride we started so long ago.

I will never forget your charming personality when I first met you back in 1963 when you came for your first visit to your mom's birthplace, your endless zest for life. Besides blue jeans, Elvis records, Marlboro cigs on the sly (for me) and chewing gum for all, you brought us joy and laughter. I will miss you very, very much.

I'm deeply moved and saddened by the unexpected death of my American cousin with whom we shared our Czech grand parents, I will never forget her radiant, enchanting personality when she visited the country of her ancestors for the first time, bringing so much light and color to the greyness of Czechoslovakia in the fifties, We had still so much talk about. I will miss you, Marinka. My deep sympathy for you, dear Molly.

March 19, 2012

Dear Molly,
although we have never met, we have seen wonderful photographs of you and your mother- and heard great stories about you both from our beloved "Teta Bumblebee".
We would like to express our deepest sympathy at this difficult time. Our thoughts and prayers are with you.

With love,

I miss my long time friend and cohort....you got to the gates so fast...I'm grateful you went peacefully...You never wanted to be a burdon...no drama. You aways charmed me, made me laugh to the point of crying, built me up when I was feeling down, sang my praises, loved my children as I love yours. You were everything a best friend could be! You could even piss me off....and come back with a good excuse and apoligy...and down the road we went! I will always miss you.....
I'll see you on the other side, my sweet Marina Lee.

Death does not exist. We just shed our bodies and continue on with our life on another plane. For Life has no beginning and no end. We continue with our same like and dislikes, but with none of the problems and pain we experienced here. We meet old friends and make new ones, We never forget the ones we left behind, we still feel the love and compassion we have for them, and feel their love. We come back for visits with family, friends and pets, It is a very beautiful and heavenly life that we continue, the happiness is overwhelming. I know ;-} Blessings.
