To the Rivera and Riley Family:
"I have fought a good fight, I have finished my course, I have kept the faith: Henceforth there is laid up for me a crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous judge, shall give me at that day: and not to me only, but unto all them also that love his appearance " 2 Timothy 4:7-8.
When we heard about the passing of Marion ("Cookie"), our hearts were broken. But we paused to reflect on the good times we had with her.
Yes, her legal name is Marion, but we, the Durham family, and the community of Perry, GA affectionately know her as "Cookie." Cookie is an extended member of the Durham family.
Whenever, Cookie came home to Perry, GA, she and Lisa would stop by the house and visit with our grandmother, mother Mrs. Cora Lee Durham. Mrs. Cora Lee would cook "Cookie" some "good, old-fashioned" soul food. Cookie loved Mrs. Cora Lee's collard greens.
We paused and reflected on the time when our grandmother, mother was sick in May 2018, Cookie traveled from Virginia to Perry, GA to visit with her in the nursing home. A few weeks after that visit, Mrs. Cora Lee passed, and Cookie once again traveled from Virginia to Perry, GA to be with our family.
Cookie (Marion) was a caring, compassionate, loving, generous, and humbled person. She will always hold a special place in our hearts and forever be a member of our family. We, the children and grandchildren of Mr. William and Mrs. Cora Lee Durham send our prayers, love, and hugs. Please know that we are here for you.
With our deepest sympathy,
The Durham Family of Perry, GA
