MARJORIE SHANDS CRENSHAW

Marjorie Shands Crenshaw, 69, went home to be with the Lord on Thursday, April 26, 2007.

Marjorie was the sixth child of Daniel and Emily Bagby Shands. She was born in Norfolk, VA. She attended Norfolk Public Schools and graduated from Booker T. Washington High School in 1955. She also attended Norfolk Division of VA State College (Norfolk State University) before accepting a job for the U.S. Goverment. She worked for the Department of Commerce for 36 years.

Upon retiring from the Department of Commerce, Marjorie returned to this area to live. She lived in Chesapeake. She was a member of Shiloh Baptist Church where she attended regularly. While in Washington, DC, she faithfully worshipped at Greater First Baptist Church.

She was predeceased by her parents, Emily and Daniel Shands; two brothers, Daniel, Jr. and Carl Shands and three sisters, Leora S. Clark, Myrna S. Washington and Emily S. Simmons.

She leaves to mourn her only child, Glenn Everett Crenshaw; four sisters, Vernell S. Harris (Willie), Antoinette S. Askew (Lindsay), Edith S. Joyner (Edward) and Celestine S. Simpson; one brother, Arnold L. Shands, Sr.

A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m., Thursday, May 3 at Shiloh Baptist Church, 745 Park Ave., Norfolk, VA, Rev. Robert L. Davenport officiating. GRAVES FUNERAL HOME is handling all the arrangements.
