Marvin, I hardly knew you but I do know your kids, judging on how they all turned out. You and your wife were blessed with strong, intellectually secure and otherwise very smart, independent children. What more can you say to judge a man in life.

To all friends and family of Marvin H. Greenfield: I guess I have known Marvin longer than anyone still alive. I first met him when we were in the second grade at Barnard School. That's about 78 years ago. After finishing Barnard, we went to Macfarland Junior, then on to Roosevelt High, and because Marvin was a couple years older than me, he joined the Navy. After he got out of the Navy and I finished school, we both worked at Lustine Chev. together, got married, lived only one block apart at Brentwood Village where Marleen and Bobby were born, and even were partners in a used car lot in Bethesda.
So, not only did I know him a long time, buy knew him pretty well. I have to add that when my Father, Mother,, and Brother died, Marvin was at every funeral. Just like everyone else,, I will miss him a lot.

Dad,
I am ETERNALLY grateful to you for your dignity and for the knowledge, integrity, honor, truthfulness (even when it hurt to hear it), wisdom, humbleness, loyalty, perseverance and your passionate belief in fighting for justice & compassion (for the innocent - especially animals & the less fortunate) that you taught me. You were and always will be, a KING among men and I know you're in a better place now. When necessary, again thanks to you, I have learned who to trust and (probably more important to you) who NOT to trust. I also learned to fight the 'good' & 'right' fight - know that I will NEVER stop. I hope that I continue to make you proud of me and will miss you TERRIBLY for the rest of my days.
Last but not least, thank you for ALL you sacrificed for me, Mom, Bobby, Marleen, your Grandchildren and your Country (E-4, USS South Dakota, BB-57 forever!).
When I was younger, I didn't always understand what you were teaching me (I apologize & see now that you were always right) - I feel HONORED, Privileged and Blessed, to have had YOU as my Father. Please do not worry about me...... thanks to YOU, Bobby, Marleen, Vic and a few trustworthy friends, I will be taken care of in all ways.
Please tell Mom, Pop-Pop, Grandma Ruth, Grandma Becky, Alvey, Uncle Bernie, Uncle Mike, Aunt Louise, Uncle Art, Aunt Norma, Uncle Sam, Uncle Hennie and Joycie, that I love & miss them deeply.
ALWAYS IN MY HEART & ALL MY LOVE FOREVER ---
Until we meet again, your PROUD daughter Cindy

Dear Mr. Greenfield, Everyone that has ever met you, misses you. I am truly sorry Marleen, Bobby and Cindy for the loss of your father. I must say that there is no one like a Greenfield. They are One of a Kind and have Amazing Personalities & Hearts.
Mr. Greenfield, out of all of your accomplishments (and there are many), I bet you are the most proud of your children. Marvin & Betty have much to be proud of and are deeply loved and missed.

Words can't express my feelings... I wish that I could've met you before you almost completely lost your ability to communicate verbally. I remember the one time that you asked me a question, "What do you want to know?" when I was asking you questions about your comfort. That made my day and I am still honored that you chose to speak to me, when it was really hard to get any words out at all. At the family dinners, when I would catch you smiling, that will always be in my heart. You are the perfect example of a self-made man. All the times I've talked with your daughter about you, I've learned a lot and both of you motivate me to be the Best Man that I can be. I know how much you loved animals and I hope that you always have a good game to watch & your choice of peanuts.
Your shoes could NEVER be filled by anyone but seeing that one man could accomplish so much, will Inspire me for the rest of my days. From what I have heard, a 4 star movie could be made based on your life and you would be the Hero. Your Legacy lives on. I know you are at peace now, with your Angel Betty.
