I can say w/o a doubt, that his laughter was infectious. There wasn't a happier man that I've ever known. Truly, gone too soon. We love you an miss you so very much.

Uncle Marvin, there is not a day that goes by that I don't think about you and that big beautiful smile. I know you are in heaving watching over our family and I promise to continue to make you, Grandma and all of my loved ones in heaven proud. I love and miss you so much! I konw I will see you again one day.

Uncle Marvin, you just don't know how much you will be missed by your family. You have touched each of us in an extrodinary way that was only unique to us individually but with the same love & compassion that you shared with all. I remember how you made sure I got on the right bus when I was in kindergarden each day, played with me after church at the "old house" and the many days we spent out in the garden and taught me all the gardening tricks! You found the good in any situation! Losing you has left a dimmed space in our lives but you will never be forgotten as you will live on in our hearts! Our greatest comfort is that you are at peace with our Father who is in Heaven and celebrating your reward with all the other family members that had gone on before you! Thanks for the legacy you have left with us! We Love you and Miss you!

Sue, Lynnie, Lee Lee, Nat, Quita and Wannie!

Uncle Marvin is the epitome magnanimity. When it comes to perfect love for and devotion to your family, my beloved uncle has no superiors and very few equals. In classic Wesleyan fashion, Uncle Marvin 'did all the good he could, by all the means he could, in all the ways he could, in all the places he could, at all the times he could, to all the people he could, as long as he could.'

Rest in Peace Uncle Marvin

Marvin, I miss you already. Each Sunday after service I expect you to walk up and crack a joke or at least greet me in brotherly love with your smile. At last my brother you have crossed the great divide embarking on a journey that we all must take one-day. I will certainly miss your thoughtfulness during the holidays but most of all your friendship. Well please reserve me a spot close to the river where I can fish from time to time and tell everyone up there I am still trying to do my best. Faithfully your brother in Christ.

Really gonna miss you
Its really gonna be different without you
Time is gonna be hard and slow
For the rest of my life
Gonna be thinking about you (yes I am)
Time came when you had to go

I'll miss you my buddy
I'll miss you my friend
I promise my love for you will never end

In your finest hour I was there with you
And without you things wont be the same
But there's a higher power that we answer to
And you heard him calling your name

Really gonna miss you
Everything about you your smiling face
I know you want us all to be strong

Really gonna miss you
I know your going to that magic place
Singing you a brand new song

I'll miss you my buddy
I'll miss you my friend
I promise my love for you will never end

God places angels on earth to be a light where there is darkness, despair, and a sense of hopelessness. Uncle Marvin was that angel and light to our family. You will always be spoken of and always in love and kindness.

May the eternal love of the Holy Trinity reign on the Hawkins family. Marvin was a close friend and a great colleague to work with at US EPA. He will be missed greatly by all who knew him and who were touched by his presence. May GOD bless the soul of Marvin Hawkins and heal the pain of his family on this loss.

Yours In Christ Jesus,

To Wendall and Carroll: I worked with Marvin at EPA for years and never saw him not smiling. He smiled from the inside out. His smile was genuine even when folks were rude. But you guys introduced me to Southern Maryland high school basketball (Gwynn Park). I was shocked to see him in the paper but not surprised that the line to the church was out the door. He deserved it. Everyone should have a friend like Marvin. My deepest sympathy to you and your family. Marvin was truly one of a kind.

To the Hawkins Family:
My thoughts are with you. I happened to be at the hospital and saw Marvin when he came out of surgery on Friday and we smiled and said hello as he passed me on the hospital bed. It took me by surprise when I found out he had passed the next day. His smile was a peaceful one and I know he is in heaven with God.

Dear Cousins, words cannot tell you how sorry I was to hear about Marvin's home going. I never saw him without a smile and his infectious giggle that made me smile as well. I imagine that he is celebrating his first encounter with Jesus and all that heaven holds, but I know also that those of us who are left behind are shocked by his passing and will miss him a lot. However, I cannot fathom your pain and grief at this moment. But I do know that you are daily in my prayers for God's peace, joy and comfort to meet your individual needs.

Blessings,
Bob and Bernice (Bolden) Norris

We treasure such fond memories of Marvin over these 30 plus years. His warm, infectious smile and chuckle will be sorely missed. Marvin was a man of great faith who exemplified character, strength and integrity in all that he set his hands to do. He leaves a tremendous legacy. We pray that the entire Hawkins Family and extended family will continue to strengthen one another and walk in that faith that has been the foundation and support instilled in your family from generation to generation. To God Be the Glory!
