MARY Brougher Obituary

Mary L. Brougher 'Re'
On August 10,2021. Mary was a force of nature and a International Disability Rights Leader. She was passionate about employment for youth and adults with disabilities, and a strong mental health advocate. She was instrumental in building Bender Consulting Services Inc. and the Bender Leadership Academy. In conjunction with the U.S. State Department, Mary traveled the world promoting the employment of people with disabilities. Mary loved running, hiking, biking and fly fishing. She participated in many marathons and finished a half ironman competition in New Hampshire.  Though disability was her passion, faith was the foundation and the fuel that compelled her to work tirelessly for others. She was able to model the love of God so extraordinarily because she was first a lover of God and set her eyes on the mission of Jesus. Mary fully embraced the scripture to "Act justly, love mercy, and walk humbly with your God." Micah 6:8. Mary was an active member of the North Way Christian Community in Wexford. Mary is survived by her loving family; her husband of over 32 years, Kevin J. Brougher, her mother Carolyn (Ron) Hall, one sister; Susan (Kenneth) Jaynes, her aunt and uncle; Jane (Joe) Jablonski, nieces and, nephews; Christina, Matthew, and Heidi Jaynes, and Jonathan and Rachel Brougher. In addition to her biological family, her work family meant the world to her, including; Paula Ballog and Joyce and Bill Bender. Also important to her was her adopted nieces; Amy Miller, daughter of Lynne and Mike Podnar, and Meagan Hruneni (her goddaughter), daughter of Kristie Pippy. Also surviving is her father-in-law, Kenneth A. Brougher Sr.; brothers-in-law, Kenneth A. (Michelle) Brougher, Jr., Kurtis (Laura) Brougher. Spending time with her family was the most important thing to her, celebrating the holidays, mixing margaritas, enjoying wine, living, laughing, and loving. Mary was preceded in death by her father, John M. Angelo; her mother-in-law, Shirley Brougher and a nephew, Andrew K. Jaynes. Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, August 17, 2021, 1 p.m. at the North Way Christian Community, 12121 Perry Highway, Wexford, PA 15090. Arrangements by the SAUL-GABAUER FUNERAL HOME, INC., 273 Route 68, Rochester, PA (adjacent to the Sylvania Hills Memorial Park Mausoleum). www.saul-gabauer.com  If desired, contributions can be made to www.BenderLeadership.org

Kevin, so sorry for your loss. While it's been a few years since we've seen you both, you were not forgotten. (Your old Verlinden Drive neighbors)

Mary, I will so miss your shared energy to help make the world an easier place to live and work for people with disabilities. I will never forget our trip to Connecticut to work and speak with Ted Kennedy, Jr., along with Cigna. I will never forget all of the laughter we shared on the plane rides to and from and the impact we made that day. We ended up attending the same church and sharing similar goals to help make our beautiful Northway Christian home accessible for all. You will forever be missed.

Mary's love changed many lives including my own. Her incredible focus on a more inclusive world inspired so many of us in the disability community. Her passing has left a hole in my heart.

Mary (Re) was so truly full of life and lived and advocated for so many great causes. Her smile and wonderful nature was contagious when you were with her. And even speaking to her on Facebook. She will truly be missed by so many. All of you are in our prayers and thoughts at this difficult time. Heaven def gained another angel. She will be up there and smiling and walking along side of you through out all your journeys.
