Mary was one of my dearest friends. My heart is filled with much joy as I recall our friendship journey that spanned over 57+ years beginning January 1968 and ceasing in May 2025. I will forever cherish my bond and friendship with Mary first as a "fresh out of college" new federal hire, next as a newly engaged young woman, next as a newly wed wife and finally as a first-time mother. She was undoubtedly one of the best friends I could have ever chosen to travel with me on this friendship journey. We truly loved each other. Mary loved her family and gave freely of herself to them in innumerable ways. Simply put, she was a phenomenal woman who could see the good even in the worst of situations. Her strong, solid character and quiet, encouraging and engaging no-nonsense manner helped shape the lives of many with whom she came in contact. Many others and I are benefactors of God’s great gift of Mary Brown-Smith to us. Farewell my dearest Mary until we meet again. Jacqueline Williams Harney

Mrs Mary was a very impressive at her age. I was amazed by her , she was a women who knew what she wanted i was her hair stylist and when i was finish curling her hair i just gave her 2 combs to do what she wanted to do. She was one of my jazzy seniors. I truly enjoyed her as my client . She will be missed . I heart goes out to her family i will continue to pray for you all.
