Mary Dimsey Memoriam
Mary Juliet Dimsey (Age 75)
November 04, 1948 - June 08, 2024
It is with deep sorrow that we announce the passing of Mary Juliet Dimsey; devoted wife of the late Dennis John Dimsey; beloved mother of Michael Edward Dimsey and Laura Dimsey Lewis; and endearing older sister to Florence Mackey, after a 2 year battle with cancer which she fought courageously.
Mary was a graduate of Lehman College in Bronx, NY and attended Georgetown University in Washington DC.
After graduation Mary began working on Capitol Hill for politicians; including the Minnesota Senator and future Democratic Vice President Walter Mondale.
She became a full-time stay-at-home mother in 1979 with the birth of her first child Michael.
In 1984 Mary and her husband Dennis were blessed to welcome daughter Laura.
In her years as a homemaker; Mary pursued many passions in life including cake decorating, crafts, puzzles, opera, classical music and organizing. She particularly enjoyed attending the Washington Savoyards Gilbert and Sullivan productions with her son Michael. She loved watching and feeding the wildlife at her home in Potomac, MD.
A celebration of the life of Mary will take place at a later date. Interment will be at Arlington National Cemetery. Services are private. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made in Mary Dimsey's honor to the American Humane Society;

Mary and I were great friends for many years as Harbor School parents when our children attended in the 1980s. She was a wonderful person devoted to her family first and foremost. Her kindness was legendary as she helped organize many Harbor School events. I remember too how devoted she was to Denny and to her extended family. I regret we did not stay in touch. Harry and I saw Mary and Denny out celebrating an anniversary about 15 years ago and of course made all sorts of promises to reconnect and never did. Her passing saddens both of us.
