I will always remember Ate Mary, I called her as a big sister, she is the wife of Kuya Tenong my 2nd cousin. I came from the Philippines in July of 1972, and I stayed with the family for a month until I joined the Navy. I remember Doug who accompanied me to the military recruiter, Dolores, Daryl and Donald a 12 year old boy who took me to a first glimpse of an apple tree. Ate Mary was a God fearing, generous and very kind person. I’ll never forget what she likes that I begun to like that will always remind me of her, “Strawberry Milkshakes and Toast bread spread with butter and strawberry jam and over easy egg on top for breakfast. That’s Ate Mary and I know she’s in heaven right now.

I remember her as such a kind hearted woman. we lived a few houses down in Aberdeen in the late 60's. Her son's Daryl and Donald were good friends of me and my brothers.

I have fond memories of the Paunil family. We were neighbors from 1964-1967. Dolores was my friend and Daryl was my brother Ralph's friend. Before leaving for Germany summer of 1967, Mrs. Paunil prepared delicious Sloppy Joes for a going away party for us children. Mrs. Paunil you will be missed but always remembered for your kind and loving spirit.

I only have nice memories when I visited her son at their family home over 40 years ago.
