MARY SAYLOR Obituary
MARY ANN McCARTHY SAYLOR
On Thursday, May 9, 2013, Mary Ann McCarthy Saylor of Aspen Hill (Rockville, MD) peacefully passed away at Fairfax Nursing Center where she was a resident for almost eight years. She was the wife of the late James "Jimmy" Saylor. She was also the sister of the late Joseph McCarthy, Donald McCarthy, Bob McCarthy, Patricia McCarthy and grandmother of the late Patrick Meade and Bobbi Allison Farber. She is survived by her sister Gerry Reszczynski, brothers Billy and KiKi McCarthy; her five daughters, Janice Saylor, Joyce Smoyer, Jody Farber, Jackie Saylor, Jeri Shelton; 17 grandchildren; 13 great-grandchildren, and numerous nieces and nephews. My thoughts are with the entire family. I have wonderful memories from growing up on Parkland Drive across the street from the Saylor family. I especially remember going to the drive-in movies in Maryann's Station Wagon with her, my mother and us ten girls! I don't think I will ever forget her laugh either! Thank you for sharing her with us Janice, Joyce, Jody, Jackie and Jerri! Love to all of you! Eileen

Janice, Jody, Joyce, Jackie and Jeri; Ed and I are so sorry for your loss. I have so many wonderful childhood memories with you and your parents going to the drive-in in your moms station wagon with all the Saylor and Baird girls, the igloo your dad built in the back yard one winter, riding with your mom in her car listening to her 45 records! (Way too many memories to put here.) I love and miss all of you and know that your mom has found peace and is back with your daddy now.
I'm sure gonna miss hearing you say "Hi Jerrrriii, I looovvvvee you"!

I have so many memories of Mary Ann. She was so full of life and loved to have fun. When I was a teenager I felt like we could talk about anything with her... and boy did we. I blush just thinking about it. I used to love to hang out at the Saylor house. I'm so glad she's at peace now.

She was also an avid NASCAR and asphalt as well as Sprint and Dirt auto racing fan, and was in charge of the photo booths at Beltsville Speedway and Old Dominion Speedway (ODS) from 1965 till Beltsville Speedway closed and at ODS till the Early 1980's. She was the Author of Woman's Racing World in the Tri-State Racing Newspaper, and the selling of that newspaper at Beltsville and ODS during those years, and she was a member of M.A.R.F.E. (Metropolitan Auto Racing Fan Club). She is well known in the Tri-State racing area,and will be surely missed.
