Mary Wingo Obituary

Mary Frances Wingo, 90, of Arlington, VA passed away peacefully in her home on July 14, 2025. She was born in Boston, MA, the daughter of Harold and Leola Lafayette. She was predeceased by her husband of sixty years, Walter Scott Wingo, and her older brother, Robert Lafayette. She is survived by her four children, five granddaughters, and two great grandchildren.

Mary moved to the Washington, DC area as a young woman, where she met and married her husband and raised her family. Mary was a proud volunteer at the Virginia Hospital Center, and had a lifelong keenness for duplicate bridge. Mostly, she loved her family, and she will be deeply missed.

The Wingo family would like to thank the wonderful staff at The Jefferson and at Goodwin Hospice for their care and attention.

Visitation will be held on Sunday, July 20, from 4 to 8 p.m., at Murphy Funeral Home in Arlington, VA. A funeral Mass will be held on Monday, July 21, at 1:30 p.m. at the Cathedral of St. Thomas More in Arlington, followed by a burial at Columbia Gardens Cemetery.
