MAURICE ATKIN "Maury"
On June 2, 2012 of Bethesda, MD. Beloved husband of Flora Blumenthal Atkin; loving father of Joseph (Carol) of Glencoe, IL, Jonathan of New York, NY and Barrie of Waltham, MA. Devoted brother of Shom (Lester) Edmond of Washington, DC and Greta (Herb) Levart of Hartsdale, NY. Loving grandfather of Lisa (John) Vondra and Judy (Stephen) Berkeley. Great-grandfather of Samuel and Ethan Vondra and Benjamin, Rebecca, Joseph and Matthew Berkeley. Also survived by numerous cousins, nieces and nephews. Funeral service will be held Tuesday, June 5 at 1 p.m. at Adas Israel Congregation, 2850 Quebec St., NW, Washington, DC 20008. Burial immediately following at Adas Israel Cemetery, 1400 Alabama Ave., SE, Washington, DC. Family will be observing Shiva at 7:30 p.m., Tuesday through Thursday at the residence. Contributions may be made to the Foundation for Jewish Studies, Chesapeake Bay Foundation or the Blumenthal Fund at Adas Israel. Arrangements by HINES-RINALI FUNERAL HOME under Jewish Funeral Practices Committee of Greater Washington Contract.

My cousin Maury was a kind, elegant and gracious man who led a long and remarkable life. He was always so kind and supportive of my mother, and made great efforts to stay in touch with the many cousins and other relatives throughout his life. My heart goes out to his wife, sisters, children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren for their loss, but I also celebrate a life fully lived.
