Dear Jackie and the Dean and Poynor Families,
Sister Maxine was a dear friend. We always enjoyed being with her. Her dedication to God, her family and friends was the greatest.
Bro. Jack and Maxine truly had a vision, and faith to carry it out. They always stood out in front, and excelled in all that they did for God, their family, their church, the A.B.A., and our Country.
I ,personally, will never forget the week I stayed with them in Bowie, and the Washington D.C. area. We were two whole days in the Smithsonian, the capitol buildings, and with the preachers in the Washington D.C. area.
You have our sympathy and condolence. May God continue to bless each of you.
Your friend and brother and sister in Christ,
Dane and Mary Ann Ruff

Maxine Dean was truly a godly woman and an inspiration to all who knew her. She was always interested in my life and made me feel welcome in the church. She will be sadly missed by her family, but how wonderful to know she is in the arms of her Savior and reunited with her husband, Jack.

Jackie & Family;
No words of mine can express how much I loved Mrs. Maxine "Mother" Dean. On behalf of the deacons of Grace Baptist Church, please accept our deep love for you during this time of remembrance and celebration on Maxine's Heavenly Homecoming. Our sincere thoughts and prayers go out to you, Toby, Debbie, Jason, and the entire Byrd and Babcock families. Maxine lived a life of serving others in church, work and her home. Whether it was her family or anyone she came in contact with, she believed that we should love others as Christ loved us and to love others more than ourselves. She demonstrated that with her deeds and words. Maxine trusted in Jesus her whole life. She grew up hearing about Jesus and His grace. She also encouraged many others to trust in God and her quiet faithfulness was an example of how each of us should live our lives for His glory. She was not just a strong Christian, faithful friend, and counselor; To me, she was simply “Mom”. Renting a room at her house and being in her presence for five years was very personal and moving for me. I was not just a tenant; I was one of her boys. I was family. Although many that stayed with her often referred to her Mabank Lane residence as the “Dean Hotel”, for me it will always be called “Home”. A hotel is a place where you temporarily stay and rest. A home is where you are always welcome, have deep love for each other, and you are family. The love she showed to me and the love you have shown to me over the last thirty years is something very dear to me, as you are to me. I love you Jackie. Our church loves you. And we love your family. God bless you. We continue to pray for his strength and love during this time but know that we have assurance and peace that Mom is with her Lord, praising God's glory and awaiting the day when all of her children will finally come home.
In His Grace,
Mike

I was so blessed to have been able to know Maxine Dean! She was a godly woman with lots of wisdom! I remember when she led a class at a women's seminar at Grace in Bowie MD after Jack Dean passed away about "Grieving". It was so wonderful and the information was so real! Also when Dale and I would visit my Mom, and we would sit in front of Maxine and Toby & Jackie, Maxine would always ask me how Angela was doing and would always fill me in on Jason and her beautiful great-grandchildren!
Her big smiles and hugs were such a blessing! Praying for you! I love you all!!!

Maxine always had a special place in our hearts. Maxine always took the time to take an interest in Mary, our son Chris and myself. When we first came to Grace in 1989 she went out of her way to make us feel welcome. We love her.

Jackie, I thought I had left a message for you and your family earlier this month, but apparently I didn't his the right button! I loved your mother from the time I first met her, at the ABA in St. Louis in 1975. She made it easy to be a friend immediately, and she was a great encouragement to me, and all those in the National Women's Auxiliary. I was so glad she was able to attend the 50th Anniversary of NWA, because it really was a tribute to her love for Christ and her willingness to work hard to see that women were able to serve Him by serving His churches. She will be missed by more people than you can even imagine! Love, Betty Horton

What a great lady. Met her and Jack in the early 60s at Bogg Springs Camp. Jack led me to the Lord and Ms Maxine always treated me with love and kindness. She always had a hug for me and was an example of what a Godly woman should be. She touched so many lives with her sweet spirit and loving kindness. Jackie, you are blessed. Heaven rejoices with her presence.

Will greatly miss Mrs. Dean! If it were not for Pastor and Mrs. Dean's influence on both of our families, Bud and I might not have met. The ripple effects of their investments for God and the love of others will never end! We were all blessed to know her! Bless you all.

How could I possibly write in a guest book all that Maxine meant to me, and all that your family means to me? I love you all so much, and you have given me so much love. Debbie and I; Jackie and I; AND Maxine and I have had our fair share of "u-turn in the garage" moments (Toby offering words of wisdom, and sometimes looks of bewilderment from the sidelines.) It is these moments that I treasure. So much fun and laughter - all with a purpose. Sometimes successful, and sometimes not. Yours is a family that loves, and I am so thankful for the day that I moved to Bowie and stepped into the Dean hotel for the first time. Thank you Lord for Jack and Maxine Dean, for the Byrd and Babcock families.....mine is a life that was changed.

We would so love to be there for the funeral, but you are in our prayers. From the first time we met Maxine, we felt loved and accepted. She always looked for the best in people and that brought out the best in them. That lovely smile won over even the most hard to love. I remember her telling about how hard it was for her to consent to move to Bowie. She was honest about her feelings and that further endeared her to us. She will be greatly missed, but I know she is laughing and praising and singing right along with Jack.

Thank you for allowing us the privilege of sharing here on this book entry. Your Dad and Mom were always very special to us and gave us a good foundation in biblical principles and how to live them practically. Now your Mom and Dad are walking the streets of gold seeing the fruits of their labor as those who have gone on before them come and greet them.
Maxine was my first Bible teacher and she and Jack taught me what it meant to study and seek from the Word the truth of that which I was seeking. You are very blessed to have had this model for your parents here on earth. Go forth and share the wisdom that they have left to you to others.

I don't even know where to begin!! I can't think about Grace Baptist Church and not think about MaMaw Dean! Some of my fondest memories are going to eat Sunday dinner at MaMaw's house after church. There was always an open invitiation for anyone who wanted to come fellowship and eat good food...and I must say there was always quite the crowd, but MaMaw loved it that way!! She was such an inspiration to so many people! She holds such a special place in my heart and I'm rejoicing in the fact that not only has she finally met her Lord and Savior, she's been reunited with PaPaw Dean!! I know that they've met up with my grandparents, Ed & Jessie Morris, and Aunt Marjorie Lucas, and they're in Heaven's Kitchen waiting to greet each one of us with that amazing after church Sunday Dinner for when we all come home to Heaven!! I love you MaMaw and you will forever be loved and missed....but your legacy will live on through all those wonderful people you took under your wing and helped steer toward that amazing walk with Christ!! Welcome home, God's good and faithful servant!! Your work on earth is finished!!!!!

Jackie and family,
Maxine was one of my dearest friends. The 15 years she served as my assistant in the meeting planning of the annual
ABA meetings were such a blessing to me. It was a real joy

She loved all the right things. I rejoice to know she is now in the presence of our Lord. I send my love and prayers to all of you. You have all been real friends all these years.

was lovingly referred to as "the Dean Hotel". I lived with the Dean's until I was 28 yrs. old and married in their livingroom. Maxine and Jack treated me
as one of their own and I will always be greatful for the opportunity to be one
of the family. Dudley and I enjoyed our visits with Maxine and Jay this spring.

Dear Jackie and Family: Sis. Maxine was a great blessing to her family and church, as well as to the whole ABA family of churches. She faithfully helped Edgar Sutton for years when he took her husband's place as Director of Meeting Arrangements; was an innovator and leader in the formation and direction of the National Women's Auxiliary for years; and continued to do anything asked of her with vigor, excellence and diligence. We will miss her, but she is at home now. May the Lord bless you all as you adjust to her home going.

Dear Jackie and Family,
Your mom was a very special person. Linda and I always enjoyed visiting with her at the national meetings. We also had the opportunity of visiting at Grace Baptist Church and having lunch with her and others that day.
Your mom always had time for Linda and me and showed so much love to us when we met. She was a person who loved God and people. Everyone who knew Maxine Dean loved her.
Sister Maxine was such a help to Bro. Jack in his ministry and continuted to serve her church and the churches of the ABA especially in her work with the National Ladies Auxiliary.
While we sorrow at this time, we rejoice that she is now enjoying time with her Lord and her loved ones who have gone on before her.
God Bless,

When I was eight years old, I had the honor of attending church at Northside Baptist Church in Snyder, Texas where Bro. Jack Dean was Pastor, I vividly remember him and his wife Maxine. She was a caring and motivated person. The thought of her brings up some great memories because of her dedicated work, godly example and love for me. (I felt like she loved me, even though I know that there were so many other children and adults in her life) Their investment in my life at such an early age has stuck with me throughout my 39 years of ministry. May God bless her memory and especially her family. John B. Bryant, Texarkana, Texas
