MICHAEL PALMER Obituary
Michael Wayne Palmer "Mike" (Age 67)
Of Locust Grove passed away peacefully on Monday, April 23, 2018 at his home. Mike was born in Cheverly, MD and had a successful career with Verizon and MDI Worldwide in sales. He enjoyed the outdoors, golf, fishing, hunting, and his good friends. Mike was a devoted father, son, grandson, brother, uncle and cousin. Survivors include his sisters, Mary Ellen Struhar (Chuck), Robin Horton (Jim) and Nancy Palmer (Susan); and numerous nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his daughter, Kathryn Alicia Scafone; and his parents, Ina and Leonard M. Palmer. A service will be held at 12 noon on Tuesday, May 1, at Covenant Funeral Service, Fredericksburg. The family will receive friends one hour prior to the service at the funeral home. Interment will be private. In lieu of flowers, memorials may be made to the Salvation Army. Online guestbook at covenantfuneralservice.com

Mike was a great man and friend of mine and will always be remembered. I first met Mike while he was working for Bell Atlantic filling in for another great friend of mine Ken who could not make the appointment I had with him so Ken asked Mike to take his place. Mike pretended very well to be interested in what I had to say but there was much more to this chance visit. Mike had this way about him and that was instant likeability. And so it began, every time I would visit the DC area, Mike and I would meet up and either golf, or have lunch or dinner or all three. One evening we had dinner then went out for drinks in Alexandria which finished up with Grand Marnier. Ever since that evening almost every time I have a Grand Marnier I would toast Mike and send him a text. Time spent with Mike was always fun. Mike was a kind, strong, brave and honest man who made the most out of the life that was presented to him. May God continue to bless Mike's peaceful soul.
