MICHAEL QUINN Obituary

MICHAEL LEE QUINN (Age 70)
Died peacefully January 25, 2018, with his loving wife Pat Scheel by his side. Mike gave us a more beautiful world. His passion for a life well-lived brought adventures, deep and enduring friendships, and beautiful buildings and spaces. His greatest passions were his three lovely children, David, Samuel, and Hannah Quinn. Mike deeply touched the lives of his two stepdaughters Jamarie Geller and Aubree Blumer, and stepson-in-law David Blumer. He will be missed by his sisters Patricia Ritchie (Dennis) and Jane Paccamonti (Dale). For a link to the Quinn Evans Architects tribute, to read about his amazing career, and links to memorial contributions, go to www.quinnevans.com/news.Services will be held on February 4, 2018, at 1 p.m. at Hill Auditorium, 825 N. University Avenue, Ann Arbor, MI. There will also be a tribute to Mike this summer in Frankfort, MI, his beloved second home. Donations can be made to the Michal L. Quinn and David S. Evans Endowed Scholarship at the University of Michigan, Michigan Theater, and Smile Train.

It was my good fortune to work with Mike on only two design projects, but it was easily apparent that he was a rare visionary thinker who clearly saw the hidden potential in even the most limited or complex undertaking. He approached his profession with open enthusiasm and had a great reverence for the quality and skill that past practitioners of architecture and the building trades left in historic structures. Designers in future in generations will surely see his works in the same light. Rest securely Mike.

Mike Carland, his Birmingham childhood and lifelong friend gave a wonderful tribute during Mike's service at the Hill Auditorium. RIP, Mike Quinn.

I learned of Mike's death only yesterday. I knew both David and Mike. Both were outstanding. I met Mike about 10 years ago. My daughters were tenants on the street level of his building where they operated Peartree. Mike was a thoughtful and kind landlord. Of course above all he was a nationally known and respected architect. You have my sympathy.

MIKE QUINN WAS A WONDERFUL, CREATIVE, Innovative, kind person. He was a good listener. He spent long hours, drafting or remodeling, various buildings, with our dad, Richard Wagner. The two of them would draft, for what seemed like hours. Then...another take at measurements, weight, material, structures, natural light...
..They both seemed to really like what they were doing.....Architecture will thrive and continue but it will never be quite the same without him.
