MICHAEL E. TOMAI
Michael Egan Tomai died at the age of 30 on Sunday, May 12, 2013 in Alexandria, VA. Mike is remembered by his girlfriend, Amber Schleuning of Alexandria, VA; his parents,Timothy Robert Tomai of San Diego, CA and Maude McCarthy of Louisville, KY; and his sister, Meta Dowd Tomai of New York, NY. His wake will be held at Everly-Wheatley Funeral Home in Alexandria, VA from 5 to 8 p.m. on May 17; the funeral mass will be held at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church at 10 a.m. on May 18; and his burial will be at Quantico National Cemetery at noon on May 20.

Mike was my Team OIC at school. He was an all-around great guy and always put his Marines before himself. I always looked at him as an example to live up too. I miss him.

Words cannot express my sadness when I heard Michael's name during mass at St. Charles this morning. Michael was truly a wonderful student and I'm sure that he grew into an amazing young man. I will always treasure his memory.

I never met Mike, but we have a mutual friend. I can tell by the pain in that friend's voice that the world has lost a truly amazing person. Sending all the love and support one could possibly muster to Mike's family and friends as they walk this difficult road forward. "To live in hears we leave behind, is not to die." I met Mike Easter 2008 and jogged along the Potomac with him and cousin Tom, my dear friend.
I was so impressed with him and his life experience and his service. He had a warmth and smile that I will not forget.
