MILTON SCHULTZ Obituary


MILTON J. SCHULTZ, JR.  RADM USN (Ret.)  
RADM Milton J. Schultz, Jr, USN (Ret) passed peacefully in his sleep on February 26, 2021 at home. He was 94. A native of Salina, Kansas, he enlisted in the Navy, then entered the U.S. Naval Academy where he graduated with the Class of 1950. While in the Navy he served as a Naval Surface Warfare Officer with a specialty in communications. Upon his promotion to Rear Admiral, he served with distinction in key positions, earning both the Defense Superior Service Medal and the Defense Distinguished Service Medal. A long time resident of McLean, Virginia, he was active in both his church and the Naval Academy Alumni Association. He served as President of the congregation at Lutheran Church of the Redeemer and as President of his Naval Academy class for many years. Married 54 years to his beloved wife, Mary Jane Strowig, until her death in 2004, he lovingly raised five children: Olinda, Milton Schultz III, Christine, Peter, and Edith, His children, their spouses, five grandchildren and one great grandchild all mourn his loss, as do his brother, James, his sister, Shirley, many nieces and nephews, and his beloved wife of fourteen years, Marion, who was his dearest companion. Milton loved well, and was well-loved. A memorial service will be held later this year, arrangements pending. The Admiral will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery with full military honors. In lieu of flowers, donations may be sent to Lutheran Social Services at http://www.lssnca.org, or the Navy Marine Corp Relief Society at https://www.nmcrs.org/.
