Richard McGuire Shannon

Richard McGuire Shannon, age 71, of Reston, VA passed away on February 23, 2022 at Fairfax Hospital.

Richard was a Pastor and a Special Education teacher. He was known for spreading the good news of Jesus and the hope, joy, and love that he experienced through his relationship with God. He had a passion for helping the poor and especially for providing educational opportunities for those who needed them most.

Richard is survived by his loving wife, Phyllis; daughter Mary Shannon and her husband, Michel Mano; sister Molly Daum; and brothers Michael, Patrick, and Daniel Shannon.

He was preceded in death by his parents, F. John and Catherine M. Shannon; brother John Shannon; sisters Katherine Shannon and Eileen Chin.

In lieu of flowers, donations in Richard's honor are welcome to Samaritan's Purse or Love a Child Inc.

A Visitation will be held from 6 to 8 p.m. on Friday, March 4 at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home, 9902 Braddock Road, Fairfax, VA. Funeral Service will be at 12 Noon on Saturday, March 5 at Fairfax Memorial Funeral Home.
