Nancie Brownley Cameron

On Tuesday, October 14, 2025, Nancie Brownley Cameron, 82, beloved wife of the late Don B. Cameron, peacefully passed away in Kensington, MD, after a lengthy battle with dementia.
Born in Baltimore, MD, July 26, 1943, to Charles Corner Brownley and Marie Graeve Brownley, Nancie grew up in Roland Park with summers in Ocean City, NJ. She graduated from Eastern High School and attended Rider College where she was a member of Sigma Iota Chi Sorority. After college, she worked as an administrative assistant and editor and traveled extensively to Spain, Switzerland, Israel, South Africa, and Antarctica.
Nancie was a fabulous chef who loved to entertain, from shore parties to her legendary birthday celebrations and weekly Sunday dinners where all were welcome. She cherished her cats, from Tweeny to Anna and the kitties in between.
In 1981, Nancie founded Creative Cakes in Silver Spring, MD, baking wedding cakes, birthday cakes, celebratory cakes including for the US Capitol and National Zoo. She created hundreds of festive gingerbread houses each December. She retired in 2006 and moved to the Eastern Shore with her husband. In 2019, they moved to Kensington, MD.
Nancie is survived by her sister, Alice Washburn, her nephew William Washburn and niece Laura Noble (and families), her stepchildren Miriam, Nancy, Carol, and Don Cameron (and families), and many cousins and lifelong friends.
She will be buried next to her beloved husband in the Cameron family plot in White Pigeon, MI. A memorial service will be held via Zoom on Sunday, November 23, 2025. Please contact family for the link.
