NANCY CLEMMER Obituary
NANCY DAY CLEMMER
Passed away in Forest Park, Illinois, on July 11, 2014, at the age of 46. She was a former resident of the Washington, D.C. area. Nancy was a dedicated and committed social worker who held positions in Chicago, Virginia, D.C., and New York. Her work benefited the lives of countless people whom she helped with hospice care, as a foster care worker, and as a clinician. She is survived by her mother Elizabeth "Betty" Clemmer, of Chevy Chase, MD; sister Helen Rolston-Clemmer and her husband, Jeff Rolston-Clemmer, nephews Campbell and Layne, and niece Inez of Missoula, Montana; brother Stephen Clemmer and his wife, Shauna Clemmer, of Grand Junction, Colorado; and former husband George Thuronyi of Arlington, Virginia. She is predeceased by her father Dan O. Clemmer. Memorial services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, August 9, at Chevy Chase Presbyterian Church, 1 Chevy Chase Cir NW, Washington, DC. Nancy's family will be honoring her life by wearing pink, her favorite color, and welcome her friends to do the same. Memorial contributions may be made to Kenyon College: Office of Development, Kenyon College, Gambier, OH 43022.

Dear Betty,
Our thoughts were with all of you on Saturday the 9th as you said goodbye to Nancy. We remember her as a cute little girl in Benton, as an energetic young teenager when you visited us in Nashville, as a happy and beautiful bride on her wedding day, and later as a grieving daughter when Dan passed away. Her chosen career of helping others as a social worker improved the lives of many people. We will miss knowing that she is in the world.

What a lovely service you had today for Nancy. She was such a bright light in the lives of so many people. I'm so very sad for everyone who is grieving, but I am absolutely certain that her father was there to help her cross over and that she is being well taken care of by loved ones. The sad ones are only the ones left behind, until we see each other again. It pains me to know you all are feeling such a loss. She will be so missed, and I really understand Helen's words of not being ready to let her go... Hugs to all of you.
