Nancy Thibadeau Obituary

Nancy Joan Thibadeau, born in Washington, DC, died of carcinoid cancer on March 12, 2024. She was 76 years old. Nancy was the daughter of the late Dr. Frank and Harriet Thibadeau. She graduated from Springbrook High School in Silver Spring, MD, and received her BA in Philosophy at Washington College, in Chestertown, MD. After college, Nancy continued her education and received certification to teach at Montessori schools. She owned and operated the Blacksburg Montessori school while her husband attended graduate school at Virginia Tech in Blacksburg, VA. While her children were young, Nancy was a stay-at-home mother. After they started school, Nancy changed careers and studied to become an enrolled tax agent, working for a number of companies and retiring after 16 years. Throughout her life she had many interests and hobbies, including horseback riding, ballet, dance and needlework crafts. She was an avid reader, a lover of nature and gardening, and tried to spend some time every summer at the beach. She is survived by Arthur Schultz, her husband of over 50 years, two children, Erica Sercy (Ken) of Washington, DC and Christian Schultz of Richmond, Virginia; one granddaughter, Sydney Sercy; a brother Andrew (Theresa) of Silver Spring, MD, and many nieces, nephews and friends. She was cherished by many for her grace, wise counsel, and sense of humor. Interment will be at Fairfax Memorial Park in Fairfax, VA. At her request there will be no memorial service. In lieu of flowers, please consider a gift in her memory for cancer research.
