NEAL WEBER Obituary

WEBER Neal J. Weber Lieutenant Colonel U.S. Army (Ret.) Dearly loved, Neal J. Weber, died on March 11, 2018 after surviving a stroke in October 2016. Neal's quick wit kept the joy of laughter in any situation... no matter how difficult. In his youth, he was a boxer, basketball, football and baseball player. As a grown man, he loved the outdoors and landscaping. He cherished his wife and family. Neal was born in Richland Center, Wisconsin on June 11, 1939. He graduated from Manitowoc High School, the University of Wisconsin-Milwaukee (Bachelor's degree) and earned a Master's degree from Boston University. Neal is survived by his wife, Aileen, his son, Steven (wife Lucy R. Weber), his daughter, Dr. Lynne Sowers (husband Dr. Daniel Sowers), brother, James Weber (wife Frances Weber), grandchildren, Henry Weber, Thomas Weber, Julia Sowers, Catherine Sowers, nieces, nephews and their families, cousins and many friends. He was predeceased by his father, John F. Weber, his mother, Helen Weber, his sister, Carol Weber Katz and nephew, Mark Katz. He served his country as a U.S. Army officer for 25 plus years, retiring as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1987. He was a Distinguished Military Graduate of UW-M. He was an Army Ranger, Paratrooper who served in South Korea, South Vietnam, Hawaii, West Germany, the Netherlands and various assignments in the U.S.A. His military awards include the Distinguished Flying Cross, Bronze Star Medal (5 oak leaf clusters), Bronze Star Medal with V device, Defense Meritorious Service Medal (one oak leaf cluster), Meritorious Service Medal (one oak leaf cluster), Air Medal (18th Award), Air Medal with V device, Army Commendation Medal with 2 V devices. Following his retirement, he pursued a path of spiritual unfoldment. His goal: to become a man of love, peace and goodwill. He achieved it. We are grateful to those who have cared for Neal at the Regency Health and Rehabilitation Center, physicians, nurses, hospital staff, friends and to those who have held him in their thoughts and prayers these past few years. Colonel Weber will receive full military honors at Arlington National Cemetery at a date to be determined.
