General Krawciw was our company Tac at USMA from 1965 to 1967, first as a captain in 1965 and then quickly promoted to major. Virtually to a man in our class of 1968, we regarded him as a consummate leader and officer who earned the respect of all around him. A true professional.

I served in the G-3 at Leighton Barracks in Wurzburg when MG Krawciw commanded 3ID. He was an outstanding officer and leader, and he was also a gentleman. My sincere condolences to his family. Rock of the Marne!

I worked with General Krawciw while he was the 3rd Infantry Division Commander. What a great and intelligent person. I could tell so many great stories about him and what kind of person he was. What a life he lived. What a great leader and mentor !!! One of the things I remember him telling me was to always live your life in a positive manner because there is always someone out there watching you. General Krawciw always loved going to talk to the troops. While he was visiting any barracks, he would want to go to the motor pools to speak with the troops on the ground and always wanted to go unannounced. I rememebr he would always have me park out fromnt of the motor pool and he would walk in. It wasn't long you would see the Platoon Leaders running to the motor pool. But he loved talking with the troops. General Krawciw will be greatly missed. Condolences to the family. General Krawciw was a great man.

General Krawciw was my Tactical Officer (sort of like an adult scout leader) at West Point in 1963. I was a scared high school graduate embarking on a new and terrifying experience. Nick seem to know exactly what I was facing and provided wonderful and caring leadership to get me and my classmates through the challenge.
I will never forget how he and his wife would invite a few of us to his house for one of the best dinners ever created. A home cooked meal and gentle caring made us all relaxed and grateful.
I did not have the honor of serving under him after I graduated, but I and many others observed his phenomenal success as a great leader for our Army.
Thank you Sir for helping me to succeed,

Please accept our sincere condolences, we are praying for General Krawciw's entry into Eternal Life. A true beacon of virtue among the Ukrainian American community, having served heroically in the United States Army 1959-1990, and then being the primary architect of the modern Ukrainian Army, including military education of its best and brightest officers and Soldiers, a legacy continuing today, saving thousands of Ukrainian lives, and bringing glory to Ukraine! As a Cavalry officer myself, General Krawciw improved our U.S. Army doctrine, which was proven in Vietnam and Iraq, and is also a legacy today. Heaven will be a more orderly place with Major General Nicholas Krawciw instilling order and discipline. On behalf of the Ukrainian American Veterans we stand in awe of one of the greatest among our ranks.
