OLGA GECHAS Obituary
OLGA B. GECHAS
Olga B. Gechas, 91, of McLean, VA formerly of New York, NY, passed on March 17, 2017. Born in Rochester, NY on December 15, 1925 to Charles and Viola Gechas, she joined the Marines during WWII, embarking on her life's adventures. Upon leaving the Corps she furthered her education in Communications at American University in DC. A long and impressive career included the United Nations, UNICEF and the Democratic National Committee, where she was known for her fundraising prowess and marketing skills. She had a voracious appetite for all things political and she would want it known that she remained a faithful, proud and vocal Democrat all her days. Predeceased by those she held most dear, her beloved sister, Berte Whipple and cherished friend, Josefina de Roman, she leaves behind nephews and niece Ron, Chris and Barb and treasured friends Bill and Sharon. Funeral Services will be held at St Luke's Catholic Church Chapel, 7001 Georgetown Pike in McLean on Saturday, March 25, at 11 a.m. In lieu of flowers donations to The Carter Center in her memory would be her wish. I am so sorry for your loss. It is always so very hard to lose a loved one in death and our loving Heavenly Father is very aware and understand your painful loss. He will listen to your prayer and pay attention to your pleas for help because he is near to all those calling on him. In the days of your distress, he will answer you. Find comfort that your loved one will live again. (Psalms 86:6-7) Your family and friends have my deepest condolences.
