Sheryl, Donna and Thomas: I was saddened to hear of the passing of your mother. We go a long ways back. She was the perfect neighbor. She always had something good to say about everyone. She was good for our community, especially our young people. As you mourn, I mourn with you. God blessed us with her presence on this earth. Her soul will rest in peace.

My sympathy to Ora Glover’s family. What an honor to have known her. She was such a nice person, always happy and looking so pretty. She was funny too – especially in meetings when she was talking about the Anacostia Library, she would say, “Oops, I am talking too much.” She would giggle and someone would say go ahead, say what you have to say. Everybody loved and respected her. She will be missed and remembered.

While many will remember Ora Glover for her library work, I knew her “in the garden” for her green thumb. God gave her a gift, every seed she touched grew and all dirt became fertile. She was an instant asset to the garden club and she was a very good friend to me and all of the members. A piece of Ora Glover grows in many yards in our community. May the peace of the Lord be with you as you say goodbye to Ora.

Goodbye Mrs. Glover. You were everybody’s mother. You were so nice to everyone too. No one could pass up the Anacostia or any library after meeting you. My condolences to the family.

Anacostia mourns the passing of one of its ladies of dynasty, Lady Ora of Fairlawn. A tree has fallen, no more leaves to bear, but she left some lovely seedlings for us to share. The Lord had something for Lady Ora to do, she did her best and now she is through. To her children and family, we send our sympathy and thank you for sharing her with us. Being in her presence was always a pleasure. She was an elegant lady and we will miss her.

Every person must decide, at some point, whether they will walk in the light of creative altruism or in the darkness of destructive selfishness. This is the judgment.
Life's most persistent and urgent question is:
What are you doing for others?" –
