Dear Mary Ann: I had Dr. Esfandiari for Sophomore Plane Geometry. I was an excellent student in general, but this subject totally flummoxed my brain. He was gentle, kind and I'm sorry that I strained his patience so. He would try to help me over my hurdles, but I was in a class that 'caught on" easily and all I saw was a board of numbers and his comment at the end, "any questions?" seemed to taunt me. He really helped me over the hard parts! Most subjects came quite easily to me! Susan Barkley Hunter Regina '67

Dear Mary Ann,

I didn't know you well at Regina in 68-69, but I remember your husband who affected my life deeply as the first adult man I knew outside of family endowed with a wonderful sense of humor. The man that had a love for his adopted country, but also a soft spot for his native "Eee-raun, not Eye-ran, because there would be a He-ran and a She-ran." I wish you well.
I now live in Georgia but happen to be here for four days visiting. God bless you and hold you tight to comfort you. "May He bless you, keep you, and make His Eyes to shine upon you."

So sorry to learn of Mr. Esfandiari's passing. I took both Physical Science and Physics from him at Regina. He was influential in my decision to major in biology and work in a medical lab as my first career. Now I share my passion for the wonders of science with 4th grade students. He will not be forgotten. Condolences to Mary Ann and his family.
Comfort and peace,

I was lucky enough to know Pashang as a teacher, mentor and boss. He was my Physical Science and Physics teacher in high school, and helped shepherd me into my college career in physics. Later in life, our paths crossed again when he worked for the U.S. Navy and I worked for him as a contractor. He was committed to excellence, a man of integrity, respectful of all, and forever a teacher. I am very grateful for having known him in both capacities. My condolences to Mary Ann. May he rest in peace.

He had a sense of humor, dedication to the teaching profession and a gentleman. May eternal light shine upon him. Mary Ann , your classmates are with you in this difficult time. May God bless you.

That everyone remembers him as a teacher is a wonderful tribute. I worked with him very briefly in 2003 when he worked for the government, but he made an impression. I remember him as patient and friendly. As I read his obituary I realize only now what an unassuming adventurer and accomplished teacher he was. We can use more Pashang Esfandiaris in the world.

He is remembered fondly for sharing his knowledge and sense of humor with many of us at Regina High School. Lessons learned included much more than just Physical Science. Condolences to Mary Ann and his family.

Pashang was an unforgettable teacher. While a student at Catholic University, a few years after graduating from Regina, our paths crossed for a brief moment but long enough for him to give me advice to "stay in school as long as you can!" I am happy that our paths crossed.

Condolences to Mary Ann and other relatives.
