PATRICK WILLIAM DEISS (Age 38)
On August 3, 2012, at Fairfax Inova Hospital, Falls Church, VA. Patrick was born February 5, 1974, in Alexandria, VA. A 1992 graduate of Annandale High School, he graduated from The Culinary Institute of America in 1998, and worked for numerous restaurants in Washington DC, ending with a 10-year affiliation at 2941 Restaurant in Falls Church, where he was Corporate Chef, Artisan Bread Baker and Restaurant Developer. He was the beloved father of Brianna and Maya Deiss of Annandale, VA, loving son of Kathleen and Guy Ackerson and William and Jill Deiss; brother of Jonathan Deiss, Charles Ackerson, and Susan Dortch. He was a much-loved nephew and cousin, and had an army of loyal and devoted friends who will miss him greatly. A visitation will be held at DEMAINE FUNERAL HOME, 5308 Backlick Road, Springfield, VA on 12 August 2012 from 1:00 to 3:00 p.m. A Celebration of Life Service will be held immediately following the viewing at 3:00. Donations in his honor to provide for the continuing well-being and education of his girls may be made to: Patrick W. Deiss Memorial Fund, c/o First Bank, 5304 Main Street, Mount Jackson, VA 22842.

I remember first meeting Patrick when he brought his 2 girls in to pass out Pizzeria Orso menus to introduce us to his newest venture. In subsequent conversations, ALWAYS Patrick's love of his craft and of his children shone through. I was shocked and saddened to hear of his passing and please know my condolences are with you all and that I pray that solace and healing are yours as you remember the love that you shared. I had not seen or spoken to Pat for many years but I used to work with him at the sports bookstore in Springfield. He was such a funny, full-of-life person with so many friends. I was honored to be a guest at his wedding to Becky and remember him bringing Brianna (and the bulldog) to the store to "meet the guys" after she was born. I was so stunned and saddened when I saw his obituary in the newspaper. I'd like to express my sincere condolences to his family members and friends. May he rest in peace and may God be with you during this time of mourning.

Patrick you were looked up to and idolized by all of us younger cousins/bros etc. We can never forget you. You helped shape us into what we have become. The indelible stamp shall lay upon us even unto our passing. I will always have a special place in my heart for Pat. He was such a wonderful friend all through high school and I have thought of him often through the years. I remember him as sweet, kind and always sincere. I feel blessed to have been his friend. I pray his family finds peace and strength through this difficult time.

I am so saddened to hear of the passing of Pat. I remember Pat as a genuine, self-assured and loving man. I haven't seen or talked to Pat in many years but I remember fondly our time together our senior year in Physics. We sat together and enjoyed talking about and planning our futures. Physics was not of concern to either of us, life was. We talked about who we would marry, the children each of us would have and where we wanted our careers to take us. He was always so happy and we both enjoyed naively dreaming only the way 17/18 year olds can. I then saw Pat with Brianna when she was a baby. I remember feeling his love for her…he was such a proud papa and loved showing her off. We shared a laugh about how all the things we talked about were underway. I will continue to remember Pat with the love that I know he lived his life with. My thoughts and prayers go out to his girls, his family and his friends whom I know he loved deeply.

Patrick, I want to remember you for your humor and smiles, your impressive strength in adversity, and faith in the value of the spirit. I will never forget your playing with my daughter, Rachel, and your brother, or going swimming together as I held your little body in my arms, your laughing at things I would say, or teasing me for my accent. Then came the trials of your life and the growth of your consciousness. This is the face of innocence and enlightened image of you that will remain with me forever because this is the face of what you are now. Although it was time for you to go, in spite of such a short but fulfilled mission here, you brightened the flame of hope and certainty in me. I feel your spirit and I will always carry your little body in my arms. I join your parents and family in their grief, but I am also joyful for the gift you were and are to them and to all of us.

My big P, you were a light in my life that will never go out. Your time here on earth was too short but in the way that only you could you sucked the marrow out and used the bones as drums to dance to your own beat. You were loved by many and will be missed by all. Thank you for this last year and a half to share your light with me and the kids. I will see you again, until then I will love you everyday and miss you greatly.

My most sincere & deepest condolences to the Deiss Family. I am so glad that I was able to spend a few moments with Pat at our high school homecoming game and celebration for Annandale 92' last year. He was an awesome chef and truly a dear person. He will be missed!

Pat a.k.a Pretty Little Lion Pat;) I'm going to miss all of our silly little inside jokes and all of the hilariously fun times we had in person and over the phone. We had some great times together in High School and beyond. It was a privilege having you as a beloved friend. Your presence on this earth was amazing!! Kathy, Guy and Jon,
I am utterly devastated about the loss of Patrick. I don't know how to begin to convey my sympathy. Bruce learned about Patrick's passing from Joe Snyder. Unfortunately, I am leaving for California on 8/9/12. Bruce will come to the funeral home to convey our mutual sympathy next Sunday.
