Harold and Ellyn

Paul and I met almost 50 years ago and I remember, from the first day of our psychiatry residency at GWU, his unique combination of friendliness and intensity. Over the course of our residency and afterwards it was clear that these qualities (and others) contributed to his being a fabulous clinician. He was deeply committed to his patients and focused on providing the best care.
Paul was also a true hero in his 30+ year battle with cancer and further demonstrated  his courage in writing a personal account of his experience.
Ellyn and I are very much saddened by his loss and are thinking of Helen and the family at this time.

Another East Norwalk, CT, Marvin Schooler, Nathan Hale Junior High schooler and fellow baseball catcher is gone but not forgotten. In the poem the train of life the writer addresses people who have entered their train of life at various stages the final stanza to me speaks of my friend.
I wish you a joyful journey on the train of life.
Reap success and give lots of love.
More importantly, thank God for the journey.
Lastly, I thank Paul Steinberg
for having been one of the passengers on my train.
