Rev. Dr. PERRY A. SMITH III
Born in Mound Bayou, MS, on May 16, 1934, Rev. Dr. Perry A. Smith III transitioned from this life on April 16, 2021. Before his retirement in 2010, Rev. Smith served as Senior Pastor of the First Baptist Church, Inc., North Brentwood, MD, for 52 years. He was a Civil Rights advocate who worked alongside Rev. Dr. Martin Luther King Jr., and was a well-known and respected community leader. Rev. Smith was one of the Freedom Riders arrested multiple times in the Civil Rights struggle. He is survived by his wife, Constance Smith, and extended family and friends. Information about the services is available at https://www.fbcofnb.org/. Wow, I am floored. Just found out that Reverend Perry Smith passed last year. My husband Steve and I are forever grateful to him for selling us his custom built house in Glenwood Park. We lived there for 22 years and people still called it Rev. Smith´s house! He touched us with his kindness and blessed us with a home in a community we loved. To the Smith family: So sorry for your loss.
