PETER SIMON BIRK, M.D.
On Monday, October 17, 2016, Peter Simon Birk, M.D., z"l, 82, of Silver Spring, Maryland, loving father of Jennifer Shirah Birk Goldschmidt, Dr. Daniel Meier Birk, and Aaron Jacob Birk, beloved Opa of Isaac Ari Lev Goldschmidt, Amelie Ruth Goldschmidt, and Bella Esther Birk, caring husband to Rebecca Birk, kind step-grandfather to Lauren and Lilly Serpan, and cherished physician to many, died. Memorial service will be held on Thursday, October 20, 2016 at 10 a.m., at Adat Shalom, 7727 Persimmon Tree Lane, Bethesda, MD. Burial and graveside service will be held Friday, October 21, 2016, 1:30 p.m. at Mount Moriah Cemetery in Fairview, New Jersey. May Peter's memory be a blessing to all who knew him and for generations to come. Arrangements by Hines-Rinaldi Funeral Home under the Jewish Funeral Practices Committee of Greater Washington Contract.

Words just can't express the sadness and grief his passing has caused. As my primary Dr. for over 30 years since taking Dr Stouts practice he has held my hand through adolescence, motherhood, and multiple cancer diagnosis with my husband. I can't imagine how our world will be without him. Still speechless and grieving. Just saw him mid September and he looked great- a glow and peacefulness surrounded him that day. Godspeed. Love and miss you.

I just learned of Dr Birk's passing today. I am beyond words to express how sad I feel. He was my doctor for 21 years. He could best be described as a treasure. I never met another doctor, and he sent me to many, who could even compare to his devotion and dedication to his patients. I will never forget him and the care he offered. He can never be replaced. The much esteemed Dr. Birk was the Sera Family doctor for many years. He took care of my mother-inlaw, Alice G. Haje, my wife Cornelia Sera, my daughter Melissa Sera and myself. He saved my father's life when he saw us on an urgent morning and immediately directed us to a hospital where Carlos was stabilized until a pacemaker could be installed the next day. He was a wonderful man and a brilliant diagnostician. We will always remember and miss him. His dedication was truly exceptional.

Dr. Peter Birk was my doctor this past year. I will miss his kindness, so rare and so wonderful anywhere, and to have that in a doctor was healing. No wonder he had a full roster of we patients. I was sad when his dog ran away. I wish I'd been his patient longer, but only came to him a year ago. He forged ahead with the new technologies on the computer. He was very thorough. I send condolences to Mrs. Birk and family.
