BACHMAN PHILIP L. BACHMAN (79) Loving son, husband and father Philip Longenecker Bachman, 79, of Fairfax, VA, passed away on Sunday, January 4, 2009 at Inova Fairfax Hospital. Mr. Bachman was born in Lancaster, PA, grew up in Washington, PA and graduated from Washington & Jefferson College in 1951. He had resided in Fairfax County since the late 1950s. He worked as a principal engineer for Melpar E-Systems in Falls Church before retiring in 1991. He was an Eagle Scout, enjoyed bird watching, drawing and painting and was a founding member of Providence Presbyterian Church in Fairfax. He was predeceased by his parents, Harvey and Mary E. Bachman and his wife of 43 years, Margaret McKee Bachman. He is survived by his sister, Barbara Bachman Hann (wife of Elwood Hann) of Lititz, PA and a brother, Kenton L. Bachman (husband of Mary F. Bachman) of Warminster, PA. He is survived by six children, John of Richmond, VA, Wayne, of Fairfax, Mark (and wife Lori) of Winston-Salem, NC, Gary (and wife Ruth) of Media, PA, Amy Bachman Keller (and husband Russ) of Pottstown, PA, and Craig (and wife Jane) of Fredericksburg, VA as well as 10 grandchildren,Greg, Christopher, Mary Grace, Stephanie, Scott, Samuel, Heather, Karis, Philip and Timothy. A Memorial Service will be held Thursday, January 8 at 2 p.m. at Providence Presbyterian Church, Fairfax. Burial will be at the Moravian Church Cemetery in Lititz, PA. In lieu of flowers, contributions in his memory may be sent to Providence Presbyterian Church, 9019 Little River Turnpike, Fairfax, VA 22301.
