What a very huge loss for so many of us. I started jotting down great memories of Ashby Hall and the little yellow house we shared in H-Burg and I filled up a page in minutes. Q took me shooting guns for the only time in my life, introduced me to the Talking Heads and the Kiplingers, showed me Truman Avenue in Key West, spent countless hours at the wheel so I could surf behind his Bayliner, and proudly stood near me when I married Laura. I'll always remember his car stories, a fake draft notice he sent to me when I was living in France that froze me in my tracks, and cocktail hour at Tunlaw Place. The world is certainly a better place for Q's having been with us, and I am eternally thankful to Q's mom, sister, and family for sharing him with us.
We will miss him terribly.

I just learned of Q's passing. He touched so many people in positive ways. As a JMU classmate and friend thereafter, I can only smile when I think of all the fun we had with Q in Hooterville, DC, and Key West.....Super Bowl parties, cookouts on the deck at Tunlaw, and of course a KW trip with Frosh in 1995 to visit Q was one of the all time great vacations.....glad I still have a scar on my knee and photos as memories. Rest easy, brother Q

My Dearest Baby Brother,
Wow, what a hole you have left in the world..I'm so thankful that so many have known what a unique, smart, querkie, loving,FUN,crazy, thoughtful ,and wonderful person that you have always been and I'm sure continue to be now with Toddie and Daddy. You have an amazing group of friends who have been so kind with their words and memories of your life in Key West and they will get an ear full of your life up there on Saturday when we talk about the young Q who was nothing if not impish trouble and fun.
His whole family, especially Karen and Mom, thank you all for such an incredible outpouring of love and support at this very hard time for everyone.
Hope to met many of you soon in Key West or see you on Saturday...
Q ...I love you

We never met in person, but Q brought the warmth and spirit of Key West to us all of the time via TA. It is sad to think of this lovely place without the personality of Q. We will miss him.

I hadn't spoken to Quentin since 1994 or so, and am so saddened to hear of his death. We dated in college, and for a few years after, and I have so many great memories of Q; driving to Indian Beach in his gold VW convertible, listening to him DJ his bluegrass show on the radio at James Madison University, the surprise with every new vehicle he would turn up with, and so many more. If anyone has information relating to a Memorial service in the DC area, you might post that information here. I'm sure there are other old friends who would like to pay their respects.

I remember you on your mom's lap; she was terrific with you and I loved her, too. You were lucky to have such a nice family. The dogs were always intimidating; but, I grew to love them, anyway. I can't believe you are gone- you were but a kid when your brother and I were best friends. I know that you're missed; and, by the other comments, you were much like your brothers- wild, cool and full of life.

I never actually met Quentin, but exchanged e-mails with him numerous times when we were both members of the It's Only Key West message board. We started corresponding when he found out that I live in D.C., and I loved getting his insights on D.C. real estate, Key West, and, of course, his delicious recipes! I wish that I had met "Q" in-person, but I have very fond memories of him nonetheless. I am so sorry for your loss and my deepest sympathies.

I always looked forward to reading Q's funny, informative pieces on the TripAdvisor Key West Forum. (I think I read him more than Hemingway.) I got to meet him once at the Green Parrot, and cried at the keyboard when I read of his passing. He touched so many people, cheered them up and generously helped them over the Internet, just for the joy of it. May God bless you, Karen. My deepest condolences.

I'm raising a glass - a caipirinha - to your memory Q. This is just one of the many wonderful suggestions you've made over the years. Thank-you for sharing so much of yourself and your love for Key West with my wife Judy and me as well as countless others. I'm so glad we were able to meet you last December.
God bless you Q.

Uncle Q,
I going to miss you so much. Even though we haven't been close in the past couple of years I do have the memories of you from my childhood....which will be cherished for ever. I will have the best time telling my kids the wacky times my sister and I had with you. One of my favorite, the time you came over with the 16 wheeler...just for the heck of it. Or when you showed up to Bay Tree with that fancy antique looking red car. The amount of horns that thing had on it! I continue to this day to have my Mother tell me stories of you as a kid....you could write a book of all the hilarious things you did.
I am going to miss Uncle Q and the thing that saddens me the most as it does with my Father, is that my kids won't have the chance to grow up knowing you. Keep my Dad company and say 'hi' to Grand Daddy for me.
Love You,
Rawls

I am so shocked and sorry to hear this news. I am just heartbroken for Quentin's Mom, sister and brothers, as well as the rest of his family. Quentin was such a great guy - so funny, and sharp. Please let me know if there's anything I can do - I know it sounds trite, but I mean it.
