RAYMOND BELCHER Obituary
RAYMOND JOSEPH BELCHER, JR. (Age 72)
Peacefully transitioned on Friday, May 22, 2020. He is survived by his devoted wife, Sharon; loving children, Tanya Edelin (Craig), Kevin Belcher (Jennifer); four grandchildren, Corey, Craig Jr., Elijah, and Mia; two brothers; five sisters; a host of other relatives and friends. Services will be held Friday, June 12, 2020 at Freeman Funeral Chapel, 7201 Old Alexandria Ferry Rd., Clinton, MD. Visitation 9 a.m. until Celebration of LIfe, 11 a.m. Interment Ft. Lincoln Cemetery. In lieu of flowers donations may be made in Raymond Belcher, Jr. name to Langston Jr. Boys and Girls Club, PO Box 48112, Washington, DC 20001.www.freemanfuneralservices.com

My Deepest condolences to Sharon and all the Belcher family. I thought about Big Ray a weeks ago and when I got time...I end up here. I´m gonna miss him dearly, especially our political talks. He would NEVER let me be right in my perspectives, but that was who he was and he knew I respected him for that. May God Almighty bless and keep his family today, tomorrow, and thru all the times ahead.

,m shocked & sadden by the sudden passing of Raymond Belcher, Jr. We called him Bug at home. I had preserved a 1965 newspaper clipping from our local newspaper of Bug, PeeWee Johnson, Harry Mayo and Tommy Moore--all seniors and our 1965-66 co-captains for Stratton H.S. 1965-66 football team. Hopefully the picture made its way to their 1966 high school reunion photo album. (I believe his wife was head majorette for Trap Hill H.S. & her picture was posted in the paper, too). Memories. The last time I saw Bug was in 1997 when I requested someone from School Security to be available for an after-school conference for an almost certain violatile parent who had displayed inappropriate behavior during the last conference attempted. To my surprise Bug showed up. He wasn't part of the conference but constantly checked to make sure things were going well. I recall on his last check before leaving to assure everything was peaceful, he looked at me and said, "You good?" I smiled, nodded & said, "Yes" and thanked him for coming. He smiled and left. These are just two fond memories of Bug.
To Bug's (Raymond's) family I send my sincerest condolences. Cherish all your wonderful memories and live every moment as Raymond would have wanted you to do.

To the Belcher family. Raymond was a class ahead of me at SHS; Donna and I were in the same class. Although I didn't know Raymond well, I had the pleasure of working with Sharon for many years. Through your tears and in your sorrow, know the God holds you close. May you find Peace and Comfort through this trying time.

RIP Ray. We were on the football team together and are graduates of Stratton High School Class of 66. While we never served together, we both chose a career with the Metropolitan Police Department in service of our fellow man/woman. Never played together but would from time to time run into each other on the golf course; a passion we both shared. Hopefully you will get a few rounds in playing with the angels.
