REGINALD "Reggie" WASHINGTON

1933 - 2021

Reginald Washington "Reggie"  
Passed away on September 2, 2021. Born on November 9, 1933 to Samuel and Emma Washington of Harlem NY. Reggie graduated from Bronx High School of Science and in 1952 was accepted to Howard University. It was there he met his future wife Margaret Oliphant. They were married for over 45 years and had three boys. Reggie graduated from Howard University in 1956. From 1956 to 1968, he served as a field agent for the IRS. In 1968, he moved to IBM Federal Systems Division where he served in various management positions. Throughout his career and well after, Reggie gave back to the community. For 23 years, he was a financial adviser to the historic Merriweather Home for Children. He volunteered his services to the D.C. schools and St. George's Episcopal Church. He also served as a temporary Budget Director for the Howard University School of Education. After retiring, Reggie and Margaret spent time enjoying life and looking after their grandchildren until her passing. In 2000, Reggie married Joan Brown and started the next chapter in his life. Reggie is survived by his wife Joan Brown-Washington; children Reginald C., Kelly B., Stephen G.; daughters-in-law Roxyana, Verna, and Daphne, stepchildren Angie, Kim, Jeff, and Michael, seven grandchildren and two great grandchildren. Services will be held on Friday, September 10, 2021 at Transfiguration Parish, 13925 New Hampshire Ave., Silver Spring, MD 20904. Viewing begins at 10 a.m., with the service to follow 11 a.m. Interment will be at Lincoln Memorial Cemetery, 4001 Suitland Rd., Hillcrest Heights, MD 20746 on Saturday September 11 at 10 a.m.
