Richard Amato Obituary

AMATO

RICHARD GASPARE AMATO

On Father's Day, June 19, 2022, Washingtonian Richard Gaspare Amato died in his home from Pancreatic Cancer. His passing was peaceful and he was surrounded by loved ones. After 43 years of dedicated service to the people of the District of Columbia at the Office of the Attorney General he retired and continued his distinguished career as Vice Chairman of the Real Property Tax Appeals Commission. A proud Italian American he was a lifelong second-generation member of the Lido Civic Club where he served terms as President and Secretary. A scholar of American History, Law, and Literature he was a graduate of Georgetown and George Washington University Law School. He is remembered as a true friend and a good writer; kind, sincere and always enthusiastically sharing his knowledge. He is survived by his loving wife, Marylee; daughter, Corinne; and grandchildren. In lieu of flowers we invite you to make a donation in his honor in support of Pancreatic Cancer research through the Jo-Ann Danzis foundation (danzis.org). A Visitation will be held at Our Lady of Grace Church, 15661 Norbeck Blvd., Silver Spring, MD, 20906, on Thursday, August 18, 2022, from 10 to 11 a.m., followed by a Mass of Christian Burial celebrated at 11 a.m.
