Richard Bowen Obituary

Richard M. "Dick" Bowen, 77, of Falls Church, Virginia, passed away on July 2, 2024. Born in Falls Church, Richard was the son of the late Russell M. and Dorothea S. Bowen.

Richard graduated from JEB Stuart High School in 1965 where he was a member of the wrestling and golf teams. He continued his education at the Pennsylvania State University, graduating with a Bachelor of Science degree in Business Administration.

After working as assistant pro at Evergreen Country Club, Richard began a career in Federal government service with the U.S. Department of Energy as a Budget Analyst in the Office of Fossil Energy. After spending more than 20 years at the Department of Energy, Richard retired in 1998.

In retirement, Richard enjoyed golf, bowling and following the successes of the Penn State football and wrestling teams. Richard was a passionate and highly skilled golfer and was a member of Evergreen Country Club in Haymarket, VA for over 40 years. He was also an avid bowler and enjoyed bowling in weekly leagues all of his adult life.

Surviving are several cousins and their families.

Donations in memory of Richard can be made to one of his favorite charities: St. Jude Children's Research Hospital or the Wounded Warrior Project.

An internment service at Cedar Hill Cemetery, Hillcrest Heights, MD will be held on July 18, 2024 at 12 p.m. Cars will process to the burial site from the collection lane at the cemetery office.
