"Rip" (as he was affectionately known) was a highly regarded classmate and President of the McKinley Tech class of 1962. As the days and weeks pass, and as you return to life's routine, may you continue to feel comforted by memories and the love and support of family and friends.

Dr. Green was my doctor for many years. He saw me throughout college, law school, and then the through the birth of my two children years later. He was a rare doctor, spending as much time with each patient as they needed, always willing to answer questions and discuss options, always managing to be all the things you search for in a doctor - someone who listens and hears, someone friendly, someone who has a professional demeanor, and someone who is excellent in his or her field. Dr. Green excelled in all these qualities. His excellence shone the day my son was born in a rare emergency scenario and his compassion showed the day my daughter was born when the hospital's monitor I was hooked up to malfunctioned. I was a very lucky person to have known Dr. Green and to have been under his care for so many years. And I am glad he was the person who brought my children into this world. Rest in peace, Dr. Green. And to his family, thank you for sharing him with his patients. He spoke of his family often and when he did, he glowed.

I worked with Dr. Green at Washington Hospital Center from 1982-89 and then through ACOG activities and meetings in the next two decades. He was always fair and open-minded. He was a perfect person to have in a meeting on a controversial issue--he could treat both sides with courtesy and consideration. I liked him very much. He will be greatly missed.

Uncle Richard,
You were amazing from start to finish. As you join your sister and my Mommie Carle E. Green you will be truly missed. As I look at this picture and all other pictures you look just like Granddad Charles E. Green. We will all miss you and we're highly blessed to have you for the time God allowed. With all my love your niece, Kellie Green.

Richard(Rip) was a member of HU Med./73 and I was in HU Med./74. He and some of his class members had gone to China during my freshman year and brought back footage from their trip showing patients awake during surgery using acupuncture anesthesia which was quite impressive.
More importantly (Rip) delivered both of our sons into the world; Melvin Jr. & Christopher. Christine and I have always had the utmost respect for Dr. Green and we will always cherish the memories.

I was a member of RIP's 1973 Howard Medical School class. RIP was our class president. Those were volatile times to say the least, both locally at the medical school and nationally. But RIP met the challenges. He was cool, calm and thoughtful. Equanimity under duress was his stock and trade. Everyone one of us in our class respected and admired RIP. I'll never forget him.

My sincere condolences to the family of Richard "Rip" Green at this most difficult time. Rip was a dear friend who will be greatly missed by many whose lives he touched. He and I were on the same pledge line, the Defiant 27, when we were initiated into the Xi Chapter of Kappa Alpha Psi Fraternity, Inc. at Howard University on April 7, 1966. I was No. 26 and Rip was No. 27 and we shared many unique experiences together during that time. We were also varsity basketball teammates at Howard. Although we lived many miles apart, I have always considered Rip to be one of my dearest friends. Rest in Peace, my Brother, as you enter The Chapter Invisible.

Rest in Peace good brother.
It was so good to be with you and to share time together at Howard University.
I will always remember that early morning meeting that we had in front of the Kappa House when we became Scroller brothers together in February of 1966. It was the beginning of our journey to Kappa.
Yours in the Bond

Way back, from 1982-1986, I was training to be an Ob-Gyn at the Washington Hospital Center. Dr Green was one of the private attending to take time to teach us. He was a superb teacher and doctor and I learned a lot from him. He was also a kind and good person. I hope, in my own career, I have honored him.

Richard and I were classmates at McKinley Technical High School for the entire highschool experience. He and I were dance partners for many years at different gatherings. He so loved to dance! I enjoyed dancing with him, as he was an excellent partner. I will miss him. A real decent gentleman.
