I was just made aware of this today.

Having first met Richard in 1985, I immediately found him to be a fantastic father and an outstanding and inspirational role model and leader to everyone whose lives he touched.

His numerous contributions to his family, his company, his community, and his country are almost without equal among the people whom I have known in my lifetime.

My thoughts and prayers are with his family.

To the entire Hardy family. We are so sorry for your loss. We just learned of it upon return from a trip. Rich was a classmate and company mate at the Naval Academy. We were disappointed at not seeing Rich and Mary Anne at our recent 50th reunion and 17th company dinner, but had no idea Rich was ill. Our prayers are with you all. Suzi and Bill Brunelle.
