Richard Lewis Hubbard

Richard Lewis Hubbard passed away on Sunday, December 3, 2023, at his home in Washington, DC at the age of 80. He is survived by his wife, Virginia Polk Hubbard, and their sons, Maxwell and William; his former wife, Judy Beachley Hubbard, and their sons, Andrew and Jesse; his sisters, Nancy Hubbard and Jean Barrows; his grandchildren, Harrison, Reese, Drew, Camilla and Marina; and many nieces and nephews. His brother, Robert Hubbard, passed away in 2011.

Born on May 27, 1943, in Dallas Texas, Dick was the first child of Isabelle and Richard Anson Hubbard. He graduated from Ridgewood High School in New Jersey, Williams College, and Harvard Law School. After law school, he moved to Washington in 1967 where he joined the law firm Arnold & Porter. During his long career there, he rose to partner and served as the head of the firm's tax practice among other leadership positions before retiring in 2013.

Dick will be fondly remembered for his calm demeanor, sharp wit, extensive libraries of music and books, unfailing presence at his sons' athletic events, and love for friends and family.

A Memorial Service will be held at 11:30 a.m. on Saturday, December 16, at the St. Alban's Church, 3001 Wisconsin Avenue NW, Washington, DC 20016.

Dear Ginger, Max and William,
We were all incredibly sorry to hear of Dick´s passing. It is impossible to conceive of your incredible loss. He was a great husband and father, not to mention his dry wit and sense of humor.
You are in our prayers.
