Richard Krause Obituary

It is with profound sadness that Richard C.M. Krause passed away on February 20, 2025, at the age of 73. Richard leaves behind his loving wife of 23 years, Gretchen; his siblings Timothy Krause (Denise), David Krause (Debra) and Jennifer Sarkozi (Mikilos); as well as numerous relatives and friends. Richard was predeceased by his parents, Richard Krause and Clara Krause and his cherished brother, Clayton Krause.
Richard was a graduate of the Culinary Institute of America, after which he led a distinguished career which spanned multiple states and four decades. From the Kennedy Center to a myriad of French restaurants, Richard tickled the palates of everyone who ever had the euphoric experience he presented with every plate. Beyond his wondrous culinary skills, Richard was remarkably kind and actively looked for ways to spread kindness. On many occasions, he would go out of his way to help strangers, feeling that it was his responsibility to leave more joy behind than he took for himself in this world. Richard also enjoyed painting and traveling, often combining the two passions into works of art that he often gave away to others, hoping to brighten the corners of their worlds.
Richard truly embraced the concept of Joie de Vivre, and leaves behind endless memories from an unforgettable life accentuated by flavor, delight, and love.
A visitation will take place to honor Richard on Sunday, March 23, 2025 from 9:30 to 10:30 a.m., at Enders & Shirley Funeral Home Chapel, Berryville, Virginia and a eulogy will be delivered at 10:30 a.m. All are welcome to share their memories of Richard. In lieu of sending flowers, please consider making a donation to Cavalier Rescue USA, c/o Carolyn Stigler, 6400 N. Paseo Tamayo, Tucson, AZ 85750 or at cavalierrescueusa.org in Richard's memory.
