Richard Markovich Obituary

Richard Thomas Markovich  "Mr. Mark"
On April 5, 2016 our cherished Husband, Dad, Pappy, Coach, Educator, Mentor, and Leader was called home to God. He left this world peacefully with his loving wife and three daughters by his side.Richard was 77 years of age. He was born in Pennsylvania to Julius and Mary Markovich. He was the proud son of a Coal Miner. He has two brothers, Robert and William. Richard is survived by his "beautiful bride" and wife of 39 years, Becky. He is also survived by his three daughters who he loved endlessly - Nicole Clark (Rob), Daniela Kaiser (Tommy), and Giuliana Markovich (Keith). He was blessed with five grandchildren who were loved and adored by their Pappy - Dominic Julius Markovich, Jack Clark, Noah Clark, Hudson Clark, and Savanna Kaiser. Richard was an Educator, Counselor, and Wrestling Coach in Laurel, Maryland for 39 years. His wrestling years were some of the finest years of his life. He didn''t just coach wrestling; he taught many the valuable lessons of life in the wrestling "room." He had the ability to make you believe in yourself. He created an environment where many of his "boys" (now men) achieved greatness. For many, he instilled the importance of dedication, discipline, and the principle that your mind controls your body. His influence and his beliefs live on through the many lives and individuals that he impacted. He was a man of remarkable strength, honor, kindness, intelligence, devotion, and loyalty. He was a man of God. He was an amazing man who loved and was so loved by many.Richard''s private funeral mass was held at St. Mary of the Mills in Laurel, MD where he was married in 1976. There was a gathering to celebrate his life, which was hosted by his wrestlers. He was honored by his family and friends, to include wrestlers, colleagues, and former students. He will be missed by all. May God grant him eternal peace.

Our deepest condolences to the Markovich family. Our thoughts and prayers are with you all. We have many fond and unforgettable memories of our life on Madronawood with your family. Richard was our son's counselor at Eisenhower Middle. Nicole babysat our two young sons, Giuliana and Daniela played with them. Dick and Becky raised three wonderful daughters. You could not wish for better neighbors.

Pappy is what I knew you as and I only wish I would have known you earlier in life. I have heard what a amazing man you were and all around great person. I will make you a promise to love, respect, and protect your little girl Giuliana forever.
