Bob was a great leader, and a fun guy... work hard and play hard. When times were tough in 1992, I needed to work for someone I trusted and jumped at the chance to work in Bob´ department. And at every staff retreat, into the pool was the motto. Prayers and love for Bob and his family!!

I am so very sorry to hear of Bob's passing in 2018. We had not corresponded for a while and when I tried to send an email and phone, after months went by, and I received no answer, I thought something was wrong. He sent me pictures if his family in 2017, so to hear he passed in 2018 was a shock.
My condolences to his wife Pam and his family.
I met them after giving them a ride to the airport on a raining afternoon at Sandyport, Nassau Bahamas. They were sitting outside at the bus stop and something said to me, go back and check on them. As they had luggage, and I had a big bag of dog food in the back of the CRV, got home, took the dog food in the house and headed back out to assist. N
I had no dogs this was for a relative. Sure enough, they were still there. They trusted me and I dropped them out west to a restaurant to get some lunch. We exchanged emails and began corresponding. He invited me and my family to Mt. Vernon and on the yacht several times. When the hurricane was coming, in 2016, he sent an email to say he was thinking of us. Even wanted me to get a dog.
Forgive me, but although he has been gone almost 3 years, it is new to me.
A lovely person. Lovely family. I am sorry he is no longer with us.

Like Eleanor, I had the great privilege of knowing Bob at United Way of America. He was truly one of The Good Guys. I'll always remember him showing a film & saying, "No one is qualified to be a CEO if they don't know how to thread a 16mm film projector!" I knew right then he was the kind of person I wanted to know better. It was a fantastic experience. I enjoyed bumping into the two of you at Kohls, and I wish I could have seen Bob as the Dockmaster. He made the best kind of mark on all our lives: Passion and Compassion. I will miss having him in our world, and I look forward to seeing him in worlds to come. Thank you for sharing him.
He Brought Out the Best in All of Us.

So many cherished memories flood my mind and heart. Bob was a terrific boss at UWA, insisting on the highest standards but making work fun. What a team we had! I didn't go wrong when I patterned my management style on Bob. We were Bob's extended family, having a special fondness for Pam, and enjoying the times when their kids popped into the office. My favorite recollection? The day Bob surprised us by holding our weekly staff meeting on his sailboat. What a boss. What a dear friend. I miss him, all the while knowing that he would want us to celebrate, not mourn. May you have fair winds and following seas, dear friend.
