To Robert Brew's family: I am shocked and terribly saddened to learn of Robert's death. We were friends going back to 1975. We met through the Nelson family and the Adams Morgan neighborhood scene. I'd lost touch with him over the years, but lived in Tucson in the '90's - I actually rode out with him from DC when he was moving back to teach geography. I regret not making more of an effort to reconnect these past years - he will leave a giant void in so many lives.
I have pictures of Robert in Tucson I'll try to dig up and pass on to you Elizabeth. The world has lost a remarkable man.

To all of you who have expressed your fond memories and kind words to our family, we are very thankful and touched.
Robert was an amazing man, had many friends and loved ones, far and wide, and is sorely missed.
His daughters have requested that a memory book be put together for them to refer to over the years. Robert knew so many people, in different ways at different times; any photographs, stories, special memories, or sentiments you may wish to contribute would be very much appreciated . Please email them to [email protected].
Thank you,
Elizabeth (A.), Katie, and Elsie Brew

Dear Elizabeth,
I am saddened to hear the news. I was Robert's student at Pima. He sparked my interest in geography. He was a positive influence in my life and I will never forget the advice and encouragement he gave me. I am graduating this December from the U of A with my BA in geography. He was a great teacher and a wonderful person. I am sorry for your loss. He will be missed. My thoughts are with you and your family.

Sincerely,
Benjamin Hemingway

Dear Elizabeth,
It is very sad to hear of Bob's passing. I had the great honor to be among the few who had the honor of sailing with him in the Caribbean. We had been on the Gallivant for a number of months when he joined us in the Keys and I remember bright mornings on deck drinking fresh brewed coffee that filled the air with that special smell only it can give. He loved fresh perked coffee back then. We haven't seen him in a number of years, but he was a very special person, and a little of the light that makes life bright left with him when he jumped ship for greater horizens. You and your family are in our thoughts and prayers. Jim Caldwell

Dear Elizabeth,
I have never met you or your children, but I knew Robert quite well many years ago. I am stunned and saddened to hear this news, and want you to know that you all are in my thoughts and prayers.
I envied Robert's easy manner, and to me he was always the perfect gentleman. He was also very supportive of me and my guitar playing - I always figured that if someone as cool as Robert Brew liked my stuff then it must be OK! I have thought of him often in the last fifteen or so years since I last saw him, and not just a month he was in my thoughts.
For a certain ten years or so Robert was a big presence in my life, and a tremendously positive influence.

Again, I am so sorry for your loss.

With deepest sympathy,

John Magor
