ROBERT CALVERT, JR.
Robert Calvert Jr., beloved family man, died on Thursday, June 11, 2015 at his home in Silver Spring, MD. He had been a long-time resident of Garrett Park. Born December 23, 1922 in Santa Barbara, CA to Robert and Mary Calvert, he served in WWII in the 4th Armored Division fighting in the Battle of the Bulge. He was a recipient of the Bronze Star, Purple Heart, Combat Infantry Badge, and Presidential Unit Citation. Bob was the loving husband to the late Janice Mills Calvert. He moved to Riderwood Village after her death in 2007 where he reconnected with old friend, Rev. Kathy Jordan, who became an important part of his life and with whom he traveled extensively. Bob is survived by four children and their spouses: Bruce and Mary Calvert of Lawrenceville, NJ; Betsy Calvert and Charles Taylor of Ware, MA; Cathie (Calvert) and George Miller of Garrett Park; and George and LeVerne Calvert of Ada, MI. He is also survived by nine grandchildren and a great granddaughter. A funeral service will be held at St. Luke's Chapel, 7208 Main Street, Queenstown, MD on Saturday, June 27 at 3 p.m. Interment will occur at Arlington National Cemetery at a later date.
