Robert Delemarre Obituary

February 20, 1937 - November 30, 2025

Bob was born and raised in Meriden, Connecticut. He earned a business degree at UConn and after a serving in the U.S. Army, he obtained a MA from George Washington University. He met his wife, Helen, in Washington, DC and they settled in Maryland to raise their family. Bob spent his career in International Development with a specialty in agribusiness. Through his work he traveled the world. He never met a stranger and delighted in meeting new people. He enjoyed the simple pleasures of life: a good cup of coffee, a sweet treat and good conversations. He was an avid reader of nonfiction, a master of crossword puzzles, and an excellent gardener. Bob also enjoyed volunteering. When his daughters were young, he served on the PTA and would drive the nurses to Holy Cross Hospital during snow storms in his Jeep. Later, he made countless bird, bat, and other nesting boxes for various Audubon societies and the Owl Moon Raptor Center. He was also the "Tube Guy" for the National Capital Radio & Television Museum in Bowie, MD. More recently he helped his daughter with cat rescue.

Bob is predeceased by his wife of 50 years, Helen (Kendrick), his parents Alfred and Ruth Delemarre, his brother John T. Delemarre, and his nephew Nate Delemarre. He is survived by his older sisters Jean Iverson and Marie D. Ho; his daughter Michelle Delemarre and her husband Tom Cusson, of Auburn, MA; his daughter Heather Delemarre and her husband Shawn M. Smith, of Silver Spring, MD; a granddaughter Dylan Cusson, and grandsons Clyde and Myles Smith. He is also survived by numerous beloved nieces and nephews, many grandnieces and grandnephews, cousins, cherished friends and neighbors.

Services will be private. Memorial donations can be made to the Wise County Humane Society, P.O. Box 774, Norton, VA 24273.

Growing up I was always scared of Uncle Bob, who would have known years later we would be so close. He was a great man, kind, giving and always there to listen. I will miss him very very much!. He touched the lives of many with and without fur.

Bob was a lifelong friend of my husband Charlie. We had many memories together. I told him he had to come back to Florida because he was the only one who could get our Sony clock to work. Our condolences to his daughters. He´s at peace with Helen.

Mr. Delemarre was a very kind person, always took time to chat with you when he saw you and asked how you were and was very interesting to talk to. I remember we both had reading non fiction books in common. He just adored his daughters and grandchildren. I am so saddened of his passing , and I know he will forever live in the hearts of his loved ones.I know you will always cherish his memories
