COLONEL ROBERT IRVING DODGE, JR. (Army of the United States, Ret.) died February 4, 2005, at his home of 47 years in Northwest, Washington surrounded by four generations of loving family members. He is surived by his wife of 74 years, Alice Louisa Foljambe Dodge, his daughter Alison Davis Dodge Malone and son Robert I. Dodge, III, nine grandchildren and nine great-grandchildren.
Col. Dodge was born in Brooklyn, NY, 97 years ago October 13, 1907. He graduated with an engineering degree from Cornell University in 1929, and began a 43 year career with AT&T. He taught ROTC at Cornell, and went on to serve in India and China during World War II with the U.S. Army Signal Corps. He was reactivated during the Korean War and helped establish the U.S. emergency communication lines across the country. He retired in 1972. He was a Deacon at the Georgetown Presbyterian Church.
Memorial service to be held at Georgetown Presbyterian Church, 3115 P St. N.W., Washington, D.C. 20007 on February 18, 2005 at 3 p.m. His ashes will be interred at Arlington National Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Robert I. Dodge, Jr. Memorial Fund, Georgetown Presbyterian Church at the above address.
