ROBERT GOLDSTEIN Obituary

ROBERT ALLEN GOLDSTEIN
Of Washington DC, passed away at home on October 7, 2016. Robert was born in Sewickley, PA, and despite living in Washington for more than 40 years, remained a die-hard fan of the Pittsburgh Pirates and Steelers. Robert graduated from Georgetown University's School of Foreign Service. A musician with an encyclopedic knowledge and memory of music, he played lead guitar in the Urban Verbs, one of Washington's seminal new-wave bands in the 1980s. He subsequently became the music librarian at NPR. Robert is survived by his mother, Marjorie Goldstein Allen of Rockville, MD; his sister Anita Massery of Winchester, MA; his brother David (Leslie) of Silver Spring, MD; four nieces and nephews; and his beloved companion, Jane Connor. A memorial service will be held at 2 p.m. on October 29 in the community room of the Broadmoor Apartments, 3601 Connecticut Ave., NW, Washington, DC. In lieu of flowers, please consider contributing to the National Kidney Foundation.
