Robert Craig Hall "Bobby" (Age 53)
Robert Hall passed away suddenly on April 5, 2021. He had been struggling with several major health conditions, including kidney failure.Born in Montgomery County, MD, Bobby was the son of the late James and Theresa Hall Jr, and brother of the late James William Hall.Bobby is survived by his brother, Frank Keeler of Fredericksburg, VA; his partner, Lori Caplinger of Jessup, MD; two nieces, Rachael Carroll (Dennis) of Fredericksburg, VA and Renee Magierski (Gary) of Frederick, MD; nephew, Tyler Hall of Macon, GA; grandnephew, Nathan Magierski; uncle, Roger Hall (Fran); aunts, Veronica Reese, Rose Marie Yeabower and Barbara Branch.Known to many in the Panda community as "Unka Bobby," he was a pillar of the Panda Family at the National Zoo in Washington, DC. He was right there at the very beginning when Tai Shan was born. Through the years, Bobby had taken many wonderful photos of the pandas and was always there to celebrate with his panda pals, the births and anniversaries of the pandas.Memorial will be private for immediate family. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the Atlanta Zoo for Pandas, or the Washington DC Smithsonian Zoo for Pandas.

Dear Unka Bobby, it´s hard to believe it´s been 4 years. Your panda friends think of you and talk about you often. We know you would miss Mei and Tian, but we also know you would really enjoy seeing our new pandas. You would really get a kick out of Bao Bao´s son. He´s so much like her.

I never met Unka Bobby but I put him in many of the Panda cartoons that I drew. He was always so gracious even though I drew him in some very precarious situations.
Rest in everlasting peace my friend.

Dear Bobby's family,
I was so sorry to hear of Bobby's passing. He was such an all-around good man, funny guy and sweet soul. I had the good fortune to meet him in person a few times in DC and in my town, Atlanta. He was generous to a fault with his time and money and always a positive spirit. I will miss him and his er... punny sense of humor. I know this is a great loss for your family, his friends and the whole panda community. Rest well, Unka Bobby. We love you. I am keeping all of his family, Lori and close friends in my thoughts and prayers. He loved you all so deeply and let everyone unabashedly know it.

To Bobby's Family,
I never had the opportunity to meet Unka Bobby in person, but followed him for years on social media due to his love of pandas. His pictures will live forever in our hearts. The panda world has lost a great champion but heaven has gained another angel.

I am so sorry for your loss. Bobby and I have been friends for a long time. We used to hang out a lot when we lived in Townly Apartments. One of the amazing things was when he bought my kids a PlayStation when he knew I didn’t have any money to buy it for them. I could name a lot of things about Bobby but I’ll just say he was a great guy, he will be truly missed. Prayers for all the family!
